key does not work.. can't play

I'm not sure, it used to work for me back when I bought it, however it's now unplayable since I cant get past the main menu. constant error messages. Tried a few fixes that unfortunately didn't work, I've seen this is a common issue. I believe it may be due to Ubi shutting down games like this and the crew. Don't buy.

The worst Anno game by far. There is no balance to the game play...long stretches of nothing and sudden spikes of extreme difficulty. Ridiculous scenarios you cant do anything about but completely wreck everything you built. The computer is so much stronger that its really unfair. Sometime you start losing money and there is no reason or its because your dont have enough X, but it takes so long to make X it doesn't matter if you build 10 factories. As i said, the balance is all wrong and it takes the fun out of the game. Hard to believe this is the same company that did 1800, which was a nearly perfect game.

So complicated I don't understand how to play this game. Avoid it and play Anno 1800

I bought this game back in 2012 (I think) and played a lot of hours, it was fun and challenging. Was like games of old such as sim city or the settlers. I decided to try and play it again in 2025 however the game will not launch from Steam, I would say this is probably the first game (on steam) I've owned that is now dead. If you can't play the game then it shouldn't be on here and certainly shouldn't be available for purchase, even if it'#s priced below £1 don't buy as it doesn't even launch. I hope this review will change as it was a good game, now I must sadly uninstall

Fantastic Game, nice visuals for the time, decent enough writing, and nice music. There are definitely SOME features that have broken as the game has aged, but overall it remains solid and engaging. Definitely helps to look up the actual production chain quantities, as they are not listed and can be tough to figure out for optimizing your resource usage.
