I've known about this game for a really long time, and every time someone tells me to play it, I think, "I should, huh?" and then just kind of never do. I live my life, do my daily things. Go with it. Then, I finally decide to buy the game. And, just like that, magically, everything in the game's premise lines up with mine (except the whole - you know). But, everything else? All too familiar. All too real. All too relatable. Leaving. Coming back. Bad job. Giving up. Growing up. Seeing people leave. Worries. Numbers. And... it just felt like, this game 'waited' for me to be ready to play it. Probably just a coincidence, but to me, that's something magical. I definitely recommend this game. I wouldn't be typing this out if I didn't. It gets you thinking. It doesn't matter if you learn anything from it. It doesn't matter if it changes or doesn't change your life. It happened, you played it, something something something. It's just a part of you now, and well, I think, that's what it's sup...

R.I.P Alec Holowka You made an unforgettable Game that will be remembered by the Indie community for the care and dedication you put into your Games.
Gregg rulz ok No, but seriously this game is straight up majestic
An extremely beautiful and well written game that almost feels tailor made for twenty-somethings who feel trapped in their hometown. The characters and events in the story feel so real and relatable that it gives me a sense of nostalgia for something I haven’t quite experienced in my own life. Altered my brain chemistry to say the least.
wow this game hitted me hard Im hard for Gregg
There are some games that I can only play once. Some enforce this on some level, through mechanics or by rendering themselves unplayable by tinkering, but others are rendered unplayable only by my own willingness. Night in the Woods belongs to the latter category. It is not a game I replay, not one that I have felt the real urge to revisit, and yet it stays with me years after completing it. Night in the Woods is approached best as one would approach a novel, and demands little of the player in terms of gameplay execution. It is a charming, haunting, and relatable story about how it feels to watch a way of life fade into something worse. An essential.
I played this game when I was super depressed and really going through it. As a young adult and certified dropout, this game just kept giving kick after kick straight to my teeth. It was awesome. I truly don't think I've experienced a story in any medium that made me feel so seen and observed as this game. The gameplay itself is average, and getting from destination to destination can be somewhat tedious, but your exploration is rewarded if you do enough random walking about town. Multiple times I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled into a different corner of Possum Springs with some story going on that I could've completely missed if I was just beelining it straight to Gregg or Bea. It helps Possum Springs feel alive. The story is definitely where this game shines, though. If you like games with, frankly, pretty minimum game mechanics, and a story that wants to punch you in the gut to remind you just how human it is despite all the animal-shaped characters on screen, play this...
This is a life changing game, I have never felt More seen as a small town burnout. Mae explaining her disassociation made me realize what that was. If you feel small and unseen this game will hit as hard as a semi truck. I cannot recommend it more.
The characters are amazing, the story is a masterpiece, the visuals are incredible and the music is to die to. Only thing that's ''bad'' about it it's that it isn't longer so i could love all the characters more. I'll probably replay this until i find something that can get me even more attached to it's characters (this won't happen)
Night in the Woods is not your typical narrative adventure game. At first glance, it might appear to be a quirky indie title with anthropomorphic animal characters and a colorful, cartoon-like art style. But beneath its whimsical surface lies an emotionally complex, thematically rich experience that tackles issues like mental illness, economic collapse, growing up, and the fragile nature of relationships in a way that feels both deeply personal and socially relevant. Developed by Infinite Fall and released in 2017, the game has since become a landmark in narrative-driven gaming, not because it reinvents gameplay, but because it understands how to use storytelling, tone, and character to make something genuinely unforgettable. You play as Mae Borowski, a 20-year-old college dropout who returns to her decaying hometown of Possum Springs after leaving school for reasons initially left unclear. The town is familiar, yet distant—populated by neighbors who have aged, changed, or remained ...
