As someone who has played YuGiOh since I was a kid, I think this and Link Evolution are great ways to get back into the game and safely learn the rules of the game without dealing with Meta Decks, cheaters, an army of negates, and everything more difficult that normally turns players off of the game. However, i do recommend you get the Link Evolution version more since that is closer to modern YuGiOh as it is played at time of writing. If you grew up with the anime and want a recap of the story this is a great way of doing that and having those anime moments relived! You can even use those decks at that point of the anime or take them all on with your own build. Downside is if you bring your own deck to duel AI Kaiba or a story character, you are subjected to the ban list of the game from the time it was released. No new cards has been added since and it is a shame since I think this is a great single player experience to play the game I just wished Konami wasn't Konami and updated...

Praised as one of the best Yu-Gi-Oh! games out there, in terms of deck-building options. Probably also because: no micro-transactions or pay-to-win mechanics. I hadn't touched Yu-Gi-Oh! since GX so I needed to learn about all the new mechanics: synchro, XYZ and pendulum. Link monsters aren't in this game but they are in the successor: Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist - Link Evolution. To my surprise, a lot of people hate link monsters and actually prefer playing this older title, precisely because it doesn't have link monsters. Even though this game is praised for deck building, finding the cards you need to complete your build sucks. Most cards you get from buying an 8-pack belonging to a particular set, each of the 8 drawn cards are random and are not influenced by cards you already own. So if you want to complete a particular set, or heavens help you - you want to obtain all cards, then you'll have to sit through a lot of pack openings hoping for RNG to bless you with the card you n...

This game has lots of decks to try from 2016 and earlier. It is to my knowledge, the only active yugioh video game on Steam that operates under Master Rule 3, making it a unique way to experience Pendulums at the height of their power. I mainly played Scrap, Infernoid, and Mermail, but in the post game I'm working on Super Quant and Deskbots. You can build 32 decks total, so this game has lots of reward for continuing to invest in it.

negatives 70% of this game is just losing over and over until your lucky enough to be given the cards you need, leading to highly unbalanced duels at times. Positives This is a faithful adaption to a great tv show, featuring duels from various different episodes of Yu-Gi-Oh! Each player's deck is unique to them, so new tactics are required and this is mainly what keeps the game interesting.

(I've played at least 50+ hours on xbox as well) If your a fan of the TV series, an og duelist or someone learning the game for the first time I would recommend this game, It goes through the different tv show series and characters decks and quite fun. Original series and GX have been a lot of fun in story mode for me but this game does give you insight if your unaware of XYZ, Pendulum and Syncro summoning because that can be overwhelming for newbies. There is an option to open packs earned from currencies in-game for dueling so you can make several decks or even follow blueprints of character decks. Mechanically this game is good too - you might need to hold down right click because the game will ask at every moment available if you want to activate a trap card which can be annoying. Multiplayer is pretty much dead, but I have a few friends and managed to get a game or 2. This does have rules to stop banned cards or not. The list of reasonable for the cards available online.
