I'm trying to enjoy Ultimate Edition on Windows 11 but so far it isn't easy... having to download multiple third-party solutions in order for the game to run stable on modern hardware shouldn't be my problem. if these solutions exist at all, they should be rolled into official patches and implemented by the developer. you have to wonder how little - if any - playtesting is done before they release these sweeping updates for older games.

Please play this game if you like rpg games! I'm not kidding. Very good and deeply worked out lore in the game! Very dark story of dark fantasy. The ending will shock you in a good way. Very nice gameplay through the years. The story is well preserved. Interesting variety of choices at the beginning of the story. One of most MUST PLAY in the RPG genre! Don't miss for classic old school games in gamestory line. Everyone has to play this, for real.
I've played this game for years either on my 360, on my old laptop before I even had steam and now for nearly 800 hours on Steam. DA:O is genuinely one of a kind. It may appear derivative and outdated, but the impact it had on fantasy is undeniable. To this day there are mods and games that look at DA:O as a blueprint for reactivity and companion banter, and for good reason. A 10/10 experience. Even better with mods. Highly recommended.
Paid for a game I'm fully unable to play. The game constantly crashes, has bugs that remove the paid for dlc, and every link for help on the issue goes to dead sites. One more reminder why I hate EA and BioWare.
Spent 20 minutes building a character just for the game to crash and when I try to turn it back on it says "video card not detected" and just wont open anymore
At the moment this game is a buggy mess. the fire pits are all glitchy, textures on people and objects don't load or load wrong. and there are game breaking bugs that prevented me from even getting through the initial Ostigar mission. First it would crash every time I tried to cross the bridge to light the signal fire, then, because I saved right before that point, it now crashes if I try to load that save file.
The game crashes on startup. You can bypass this problem by googling "Dragon Age Origins 4 GB Patch" and downloading both the pre-patch executable and the 4 GB patch. Extract both files and drag the executable into the folder with your daorigins.exe and replace it. This is necessary because your current executable has some kind of piracy protection from Steam and won't let you modify it otherwise. Now that you have replaced the executable, double-click on the patch file and apply it to daorigins.exe. Press OK when it's done. Now, to launch the game, you need to go to the folder with your daorigins.exe and double-click it. You might need to go to the Graphics Settings and reduce Graphics Details, Texture Details, and Antialiasing. I still have to tinker with the options, but it stopped freezing after I put everything on Low. Additionally, disable V-Sync and Automatic Saves. If you would like to launch your game directly from Steam and log your game time, double-click on Dragon A...

the constant crashes make it impossible to enjoy, already lowering the graphic quality to make it past a single zone help but not by much.
I don't recommend this version of the game, I got to Ostagar as a mage and I can't even cross the bridge because the game completely crashes to my desktop. I tried changing the resolution to windowed mode from full screen, the game loaded instead of crashing on launch of the save file. After that it just kept crashing every time I tried to get past the bridge. Such a shame, at least I don't have to deal with the horrid difficulty of Origins anymore XD, or the memory leaks. A shame Bioware didn't get any love from EA for the Dragon Age series, it would be nice if Origins got a remaster. It's a bit old for our current systems now.
