About This Game

Operating directly under the National Command Authority, a relatively unknown entity of handpicked warriors are selected when it is crucial that a mission must not fail. They are the Tier 1 Operators. There are over 2 million active soldiers. Of those, approximately 50 thousand fall under the direct control of the Special Operations Command. The Tier 1 Operator functions on a level above and beyond even the most highly trained Special Operations Forces. Their exact numbers, while classified, hover in the low hundreds. They are living, breathing, precision instruments of war. They are experts in the application of violence. The new Medal of Honor™ is inspired by and developed with actual Tier 1 Operators from this elite community. Players step into the boots of these warriors and apply their unique skill sets to fight a new enemy in the most unforgiving and hostile conditions of present day Afghanistan.

This is a new war. There is a new warrior. He is Tier 1.

  • Fight Today's War: Elite Special Forces in a gritty combat campaign using the surgical tactics of Tier 1 Operators combined with the sledgehammer force of Army Rangers.

  • Unparalleled Authenticity: Intense story with incredible pacing and variety set in the rugged Afghanistan landscape, creating a shooter experience only available from the storied Medal of Honor franchise.

A hit of nostalgia, back to the days where we got multiple arcade military shooters a year, and people still watched cable. Medal of Honor is a solid game, albeit lacking in content since the online is discontinued and the story is relatively short. It's just a straight up shooter, with fun vehicle segments, especially the atv one's which I was disappointed that there weren't more of them. It's also nice in terms of design that enemies shoot your allies not just you, which is typical of these type's of games, shooting mechanics are dated but still solid. It's based of a true story but it doesn't really delve too deep into it and of course they romanticize it, "We gotta save our boy's." It's more of a trip to the past for me, I wouldn't really recommend it to younger gamer's due to it being dated.

2025 and this game hasn't aged a bit. Still looks good, plays great and sounds like a good action movie. Dialogues between operators are on a level that modern games can't reach.

Medal of Honor (2010) is a fascinating contradiction. A game that wants to honor soldiers with authenticity, yet can’t resist the lure of blockbuster shooter tropes. It’s caught between documentary and Michael Bay. When it works, it delivers moments that feel like you’re there, boots sinking into Afghan dust, heart pounding as the sun rises over a warzone. When it doesn’t, it’s just another corridor shooter with prettier rocks. A respectful but uneven reboot worth playing for its flashes of brilliance, but not the definitive modern warfare experience it wanted to be

Graphics are now outdated and the maps are populated with objects and scenery that are sparser than real life and feels like they have not put the effort that they have into other parts of the game, but the combat realism far exceeds many FPS / Military video games which have been released since the release of this game, more than a decade ago. I re-play this several times a year ( I am a cripple and spend my days watching movies and playing games, so for me to re-play this game so often should make it very clear just how impressive the game play of this military shooter is, compared to others in the same genres. )

Super underrated game. Iirc, the reload animations and mocap was actually done with real socom guys, and they advised on a lot of the game development. Super great sound and graphics for the time it came out, and really surprisingly good ai for your squad. An elegant game from a time where war games were about soldiers and not super spies.
