About This Game

BallisticNG is a high speed, all thrills anti-gravity combat racer and open modding environment developed as a tribute to old school classics such as Wipeout, Rollcage and Jet Moto. Set throughout the 2159 Anti-Gravity League, you glide and speed through futuristic race courses armed to the teeth with deadly weapons to aid you in taking first place.

Features

  • A track for every skill level, a ship for every play style
With a huge and ever expanding roster of tracks and ships, BallisticNG is a content powerhouse and has something for everybody.
  • Start slow, go as fast as you can handle
With 5 speed classes and gameplay modifiers to manipulate the base speed of each class, you can race at speeds anywhere between a snail's pace or breaking the sound barrier on every straight.
  • A variety of content categories
BallisticNG features a variety of different content categories to keep you busy, featuring standard content, drag content, drift content and small vehicle content. Vehicles and tracks from each category of content are interchangable so you can play how you want!
  • Smart Assists
New to anti-gravity racers? No problem! BallisticNG features assists that aid with steering, pitching and airbrakes independently. These work by letting the game's AI make input suggestions to your ship, which adapt to your own inputs so it stays out of the way when not needed.
  • A campaign to test your skills
Put your skills to the test with BallisticNGs massive campaign, featuring a large range of game modes and various challenges.
  • Eliminate those who stand in your way
Pick up weapons from the track and blast your way through the competition. We have a sizeable arsenal of weapons with each serving a particular purpose.
  • Custom Races
Pick a gamemode, configure it, add up to 16 racers with whatever difficulty you want and jump straight in.
Gamemodes: Race, Team Race, Tournament, Time Trial, Speed Lap, Eliminator, Knockout, Survival, Upsurge, Rush Hour and Stunt.
  • Multiplayer
Play with others in two player splitscreen or online via direct IP or Steam. Onlline multiplayer is cross-platform across Windows, OSX and Linux and supports custom ships and tracks!
  • VR Compatible
BallisticNG is fully compatible with SteamVR. Jump into the cockpit of your favourite ship and strap yourself in for the ride of your life! (the cockpit view is also available outside of VR)
  • Soundtrack
BallisticNG features a thumping soundtrack featuring over 5 hours of music inspired by old school electronic genres. Any updates to the soundtrack are also added to the soundtrack DLC at no additional cost.

    Modding

Built for modding, BallisticNG provides a large assortment of ways to modify it and develop new content using the same tools and level of customization used in development:
    • Create custom tracks with an easy to use spline based layout creator. Playtest your layout instantly.
    • Use the offical development tools to import custom ships and tracks into the game
      • Unity editor based tools to configure your ships and tracks, giving you the ultimate creative freedom.
      • Custom made texture atlas building software and Blender extensions for easy track environment development.
    • Create code mods with native support for C# libraries. Create gamemodes, HUDS, weapons, stats/achievements, or anything else you can think of.
    • Create custom campaigns with an easy to use in-game editor. XML files can also be manually written if that's more your style.
    • Create custom liveries for both vanilla and custom ships, use the in-game ship viewer to instantly refresh them and see changes. PSD files for vanilla ships are provided.
    • Create custom color palletes for the virtual environment.
    • Import and play custom music for races and the main menu
    • Replace most sounds in the game with sound replacement packs.

    DRM Free

BallisticNG and its DLCs are DRM free. Steam is only used for delivering updates, handling leaderboards and providing optional workshop and Steam based multiplayer support. Once you have the files the game is yours to run wherever you want!

Warning: BallisticNG contains fast moving imagery and various effects such as white flashes that may potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy.

It took about 15 people to make Wipeout 3 for the PlayStation back in 1999. It took 2 to make a successor that's even better. For the love of the racing genre and future, play this game. It's the best modern arcade racing game, and it's not even close.

Just like Wipeout and with workshop support. Addictively smooth gameplay and hours of content to enjoy. It's the perfect anti-grav racer for Steam Deck, and it looks even better on desktop. Comes complete with a killer soundtrack!

This game is good. I have barely touched all the content, nor the mods, but it is good. The best part is the options..you can change almost everything to your liking. I especially appreciate the "FOV" setting telling you what it 'actually' sets the FOV to. 68 is actually 90 degrees=this is the correct setting with no stretching or zooming. I don't care if people want to make things all weird, but having it correct is crucial to me. It affects depth perception and therefore: how accurate you are. This game isn't wipeout, but it is VERY very similar. The only thing is the physics are only slightly more "sticky," and it doesn't have the double tap side dash. What I really love, is that there is a fully detailed and diverse cockpit for each craft. WipeoutHD collection wouldn't let you see the cockpit unless you used VR..which I don't. The sound is pretty good and the music is ok. I'm, again, comparing this to WipeoutHD Collection. The game seems to run really well, and you can change the g...

This is pretty much my favourite racing game available on steam if not one of my absolute favourite games on the platform. this game is an absolute love letter to everything that WipEout was. at it's core it takes the gampley of WipEout 3 and makes something of it's own with it and absolutely succeeds at that. It has that floaty physics heavy gameplay that the PS1 WipEouts had, while not as punishing as those games but just as satisfying to execute. The game is full of nods or just little details that are an homage to pretty much every WipEout while not living in the shadow of them, which makes the game an extra treat to someone like me who has WipEout as one of their special interests. Like even the blast doors from Fusion make an appearance and they arent frustrating this time. Each of the teams being a call back to a WipEout team, the speed classes being synonyms of the WipEout speed classes. The game modes of the game are the usual returnees from the WipEouts ontop of some new ones...

A spiritual successor to the wipeout series that leaves little to be desired.

Never thought I'd live the day to find an AI more miserable and frustrating than NFS Blackbox era but here we are. 10/10 would get eliminated within 10 secs of starting a race, just trying to fight through the grid

How is this game not more popular? Pros: -The steering feels amazing -Vehicles/ship/whatever-you-wanna-call-it all feel different from each other -Power ups are fun to use -The boost/shield energy usage is a cool way to balance aggressive and defensive play -Maps look REALLY fucking good Cons: -Needs a minimap for new player experience, you know, the mario kart kind -No spectate after finish, at least give us a map with player positions

I've only played 16 hours (at the time of review) But thought id post a review just to show my appreciation to the developers and the game itself, I love the newly added Cockpit views and its the only way i play to get a feel for the imense speed and being inside the cars/crafts, I don't think i ever played the Wipeout series back in the 90s as a teenager so i cant compare the game, and if i did, i cant remember because it was such a long time ago lol, The Speed Lap game mode is my favourite, because i get to perfect the laps and enjoy the tunes at the same time, Overall its a fantastic AG game with a fantastic in-game soundtrack
