Angel Express [Tokkyu Tenshi]

A new action game by EasyGameStation, the studio behind Recettear and Chantelise. With such a pedigree, there's a lot to live up to! It's a sidescrolling race/combat game, similar to Speedrunners, Rush Bros., or Sonic Rivals. It's score-based, you earn points for getting hits on monsters and other players, by collecting goodies, or by crossing the finish line first, and you lose points for dying or falling behind. Each type of gem you pick up slightly increases your speed, acceleration, or defense, depending on its type. The translation is by Rockin' Android (instead of Carpe Fulgar), and for the most part is competent, albeit not as gut-bustingly entertaining as Recettear. There's the obligatory typo in the first cutscene, but I haven't seen any other errors yet. The kerning is all messed up, but doujin games always tend to be like this. You're only allowed five letters to name your character with, and there's no default character name, but I suppose that's only mildly annoying. T...

TL;DR - It's an adorable sidescrolling racer that's a throwback to charming Japanese-made Playstation and Dreamcast games visually. With cute-but-chunky 3D visuals, bright & colorful textures and stylized background art, it particularly recalls games like Klonoa or Threads of Fate. If you were worried about controls or something, don't be. This may be simple but its well made. Angel Express is just a fun, simple little game. And its a pretty unique spin on the platformer. what i can say....i have 2 regrets...how come i never saw this game ...and how come i doubt in buy it...well reccetear is the best game i had play...and cute...and this game is cute and is a good run game...still dont know about multiplayer....but i hope more buy this game.

Copied from my refund request thread: Online play does not seem to work. Windowed mode doesn't work and the game crashes when alt+tabbing from fullscreen mode Things that I didn't list but that I found irritating: One of the level objectives is "Collect all the gems" but then shown in the objective text on the corner once the level begins is "Key not found" and then collecting all the gems doesn't complete the level. It ends after lap 3 with the message "Failed - Key not found". What is the key? There is no key on the level. What am I supposed to do to get this key? Who knows, I sure don't. Online multiplayer (If it were working) is not done like other games where you type in an IP and Port into the game window, instead you have to make a text file in the game files that it reads data from. This is really inconvenient and I noticed the dev said something [[Edit: almost a year ago from this review]] about making a lobby system but there has been no word in the [[Edit: Year]] since. ...

This is a linear platformer where you're supposed to race through each level several times in a row and try to rack up a high score by collecting items and stomping enemies. The level design is obnoxious and the controls are terrible. The art is nice, but there are so many issues and bugs that reading the dialogue is painful and you don't get to stop and enjoy the setting because you have to run forward constantly to beat the timer on the levels.

It's like Super Mario Bros. if Super Mario Bros. was good (and also if it had lap counts and items that players could use to destroy parts of the level). Please make more games, EasyGameStation.

Not only having some good humor thrown into the story but also even for their first time making a 2D platforming type game it is really fun and enjoyable. I even love how the achievements actually help out on unlocking different titles for you to have.

I like this game, the story is great and unique! I like the outfits too. I would recommend this game, it's fun, challenging and has a good story
