The Viking High King is murdered and his Regal Horn is stolen by a man named Hagen. This event kickstarts a saga that will take Rig, his son and heir accompanied by his right-hand man Brand through the new continent of Northgard to discover the reasons behind his father’s assassination.

This game was spectacular in its original release, and my friend and I spent many hours enjoying it. Unfortunately the game is now in a state where for casual players it is just not fun. The AI manufactures armies at ridiculous tempo even on the standard difficulty and the method of beating it is not playing the game better but rather taking advantage of what the ai is poor at on a micro level, and that's just not fun.
I appreciate that a small vocal minority of the community likes the different type of challenge that poses, but it is unlikely I will pick the game back up again.

I've liked this game for years, and I don't mind purchasing DLCs or expansions from time to time. But it's complete BS when developers force you to make these purchases just to stay competitive. The DLCs aren't expensive, but it's a cheesy way to generate revenue. The game is diminished by limiting viable clan options and turning it into a rush-fest like every other RTS out there (This review pertains to PVP only).

Been on my wishlist for forever. On sale, I finally went for it despite terrible recent reviews. Wish I hadn't. Everyone's right. It froze on the first win screen, no ability to progress in the game, no saved progress. Save your money, you're buying a single play. Not worth it even on sale.

Unbalanced, sloppy dev work. Everything glitches. I played the board game and this is far, far worse. The scouts are constantly broken and the game doesn't develop after the first few hours. Don't buy this.

Every time I try to finish the... fourth? story mission, the trade war one, freezes on the victory screen. Every time. Let it hang for twenty minutes, nothing. Tweaked some settings, nothing. Made a save right before the end to try again and again, nothing. Checked online, this is an issue that's been persistent for months.
Not promising. Definitely not what a $30 base-priced game should run like.

If you are single playing this game you will not enjoy it. All clans are against the player and they don't fight with each other, only you are the target. This is the biggest drawback.
Unlike the player, AI doesn't have cooldowns. So if you fought with an AI clan with all your resources and exhausted each other, AI has a great advantage against you for the next 5 minutes. They create another army to come at you when you still wait for the cooldown.
If you expand, they send 1 useless fighter to claim an area, and run away until you catch them. Funny enough, they still have a lot of advantage against your horde even if they are too weak. And this happens as soon as you leave the area, it is ridiculous. Now you thought you could eradicate all of them to end this nuisance, but no. You have to upgrade scout camp in order to access all enemy territory, despite you're adjacent. No other upgrades besides scout camp is mandatory, mind you :D
