Story

"What can change the nature of a man?"

You are the Nameless One, a hulking figure covered in scars and tattoos collected over the course of countless lives—none of which you can remember, but are now coming back to haunt you. You are prodded awake by Morte, a floating skull and keeper of secrets, to embark on an adventure taking The Nameless One from the dirty streets of Sigil into the mysterious Outer Planes and even into the depths of Hell itself.

Portals riddle the planar metropolis of Sigil, providing access to anywhere in existence, but only if you have the proper key. Known as the "City of Doors," Sigil is a neutral ground where demons, devas, and races from across the multiverse gather under the watchful shadow of the Lady of Pain, the city's enigmatic ruler. This is a place where the word is mightier than the sword, where thought defines reality, and belief has the power to reshape worlds.

In your search for answers, you'll find companions matching the bizarre nature of the planes: a chaste succubus who can kill with a kiss, a confused crossbow-wielding cube, a suit of armor animated by a spirit demanding JUSTICE, and more. With these companions and others at The Nameless One’s side, you will explore worlds in search of answers, all to discover that some destinies cannot be escaped and some memories cost more than an even an immortal can bear.

If you remember the original game fondly, and worry that playing it again in the modern day would make you realize it was never good, you don't have to worry. It was peak fiction then, and it's still peak fiction now. The Enhanced Edition fixed all of the fiddliness and bugs that I remember from when I played it as a kid. It runs great, looks great, and still has all of the soul that it did back in 1999. If you're a fan of the Planescape setting, or just of fantasy RPG's, this is a classic for a reason and deserves your playtime.

One of the 1st RPG that I played, and one of the most memorable. Really cool setting, great story and solid writing with a lot of dialog options. But there are also downsides, for example, at one time I never completed it, because there are places where without a guide it is almost impossible to guess what needs to be done.

25+ years of gaming and this is my favourite. No need to write a review, it's the best game ever made, there is no game with better writing, every element is great. The atmosphere is immense, the music is something I revisit all the time, I wish we had moreeeee

This is one of the best rpg's ever made in my opinion. it might not be for everyone, but for me, the intrigue, the fantastic lands, the mysteries, they are all so incredibly well written I consider it near perfect story telling.

crazy morbid stuff. pretty funny as well. I just wish it would be more enhanced :) (inside a room you have to search with the mouse-curser for a door/way out, its kinda always hidden in the wall) only playable with lots of sit-muscles. a D & D Original 🙏💚

This remains one of the best RPG games I have ever placed despite it being over 20 years old.

This game’s a straight-up legend. Full stop. Planescape: Torment might just be the greatest RPG ever made. Sure, it’s got a few quirks and some clunky bits here and there, and yeah, the combat and UI haven’t exactly aged like fine wine. But come on, it’s pushing 25 years! I played it back when it first dropped, and I still come back to it now. The story? Deep, dark, and absolutely gripping. The characters? Unforgettable. It’s not just a classic, it’s the Ulysses of gaming. Complex, haunting, and totally one of a kind.
