About This Game

An unusual error manifests on April 4th, a day that echoes the enigmatic code 404. In a desperate act of innocence, a child relinquishes her name for an invitation to a birthday party, her hope tethered to the faint possibility of finding her brother. Meanwhile, Alex, a recent college graduate, returns home, only to find his reality unspooling like a threadbare tapestry. Guided by a cat which slips through the very fabric of his mind, Alex descends into the depths of his consciousness where he witnesses the impossible: a woman, locked away in an iron maiden, vanishing into thin air. A vision which ignites an undying obsession and threatens to unravel the boundaries of his world.

  • Combat in YIIK I.V is an arcane dance, a turn-based system where players use everyday weapons against bizarre entities, aided by the power of Karta. When players or enemies take damage, they start to bleed, and every action taken while bleeding brings them closer to defeat. It’s a race against time to outlast the enemy and stem the flow of blood.

  • Navigate landscapes that blur the line between reality and dreams. These spaces are filled with intricate puzzles, deadly traps, and odd adversaries that challenge your perception, pushing the boundaries of what you know to be real.

  • The narrative shifts between the perspectives of Alex and the Nameless Child, drawing you into their separate yet intertwined realities, each twist revealing deeper layers of their destinies.

  • The game’s soundtrack features over 200 tracks across a wide range of genres, from drum and bass to progressive rock. Much of the music is performed by live musicians, adding a vibrant and authentic layer to the experience.

YiiK is not a game. It is an experience and not a good one. YiiK’s 1.5 patch was something I was greatly looking forward to as a chance for the devs to address the criticism they recived and deliever on an idea that had both artistic merit as well as well as enjoyment for players. Instead what I get I a cynical jaded piece of media bemoaning the fact that the internet couldn’t understand the writer’s “genius”. Let’s start witht he actual positives. The new cutscene cinematography is actually very well done. Shots where the lead Alex gives intermonoloufes are no longer static sprites and instead these deeply intimate focused piece with the model deliever ing wonderful body language while shots meant to convey unease or tension are zoomed in perfectly. Combat(More in this later) is enaging to an extent that I could see a refined version of it being highly engaging. The maps in the new content were actually extremely enjoyable to go through. They didn’t feel like big empty ...

I went into this game expecting a pretentious experience that would at least be fun to laugh at with friends. At time, that's what it was. And many, many times, it was one of the most enjoyable RPGs I've ever played. I do not regret playing it, and can wholeheartedly recommend it. The sheer absurdity of the plot coupled with a heartfelt, genuine message behind it, especially once you get past all of the pre-update content, made it worthwhile and extremely compelling and impactful. Take a chance on it, and see it through to it's true conclusion, and you won't regret it.

A story in which the story actively tries to be misunderstood to make a point. If that kind of thing is up your alley, this game's one of the best at it. If that kind of thing seems like a lot of fun to make fun of, this game's one of the best at it. Being lukewarm to this kind of story is how you end up hating this game, so don't buy if your aren't interested one way or another in a story being genuinely challenging.

This is without a doubt one of the best games I've played in a long time and I can't stop thinking about it. I.V has made this game into a master piece and I think that anyone who likes RPGs should try out.

This game is a very interesting and passionate experience, I can say that much. It is very funny to play with friends, I did that pre- and post- IV update. The IV update makes the combat actually decent, it is a lot of fun, but it made everything else even more intolerable. I cannot actually recommend anyone to spend money on this unless its on sale and you are into playing stuff ironically.

Very cool and the 1.v update is so good. I actually got bored of the OG version and stopped playing midway through (at the mall part) The combat is way better than OG version. It was honestly very compelling and I really liked the story (as abstract and strange as it is) If you like shows/games with morally dubious protagonists like better call saul or ozark you will dig this. New music is great too. There's a Toby Fox one and i t's not even the best song (Vella's the goat) Alex still has a tendency to talk a bit too much but that's part of the charm. The NG+ is about half as long as the length of the actual game and it's great, although more linear. There are so many characters with their own motivations and personalities. Def recommend this game. PS. I care about Rory.

Yiik : A Postmodern RPG is an RPG that takes place in the "90's" where you are told the events of the game by the main Character Alex Eggleston, or is it Eagleston? Now with the IV Update out Yiiks combat is very good and makes use of a new system, Karta which has plenty of depth and different ways to build your party. the game's sound track if amazing with some highlights being The Machine and the Crow, Fix My Self Hatred With a Haircut, and Original Sinners. And IV added a whole new chapter in ng+ that is truly amazing. overall I highly recommend Yiik.

This is a really great rpg, with a mind bending narrative which feels fresh and novel. It gives you a lot to think about when it's over. This game is really a joy to play, with great music, art, and a fun combat system. I highly recommend it to anyone who is a big fan of rpgs. I played it on Switch and had to get it on Steam too. The load times are a big improvement on PC.
