I'm writing this review in light of the "sequel" having just come out, but not by the original devs. Wizard of Legend is a great attempt at a mage based rogue like that while isn't as fancy or flashy as big games like Hades, had a lot of potential upon release and in general has so much charm. The whimsy, the music, the npcs, the potential silly builds... While this game is not perfect, you can tell that it was made by a small passionate dev team with a lot of heart.

User Reviews
One of the best fast paced roguelike games that love a good spell slinging gameplay. So much spell expressions to go through each level with a fair amount of opportunity to vary it throughout the playthrough. Replayability is great. Finishing the game and unlocking all the content doesn't demand hundreds of hours so long as you're competent enough to be patient.
this game ass
Wizard of Legend is a fast-paced, dungeon-crawling action roguelike that thrives on its fluid combat mechanics and a deep spell-crafting system. Developed by Contingent99, the game throws players into the role of a powerful wizard-in-training, competing in a magical tournament called the Chaos Trials. What sets Wizard of Legend apart from other games in the genre is not only its smooth, arcade-like gameplay but also its creative approach to magic, allowing players to build personalized spell loadouts that feel both strategic and dynamic. It's an experience that balances challenging combat, replayability, and customization in a compact but compelling package. The core of the game lies in its spell system, referred to in-game as “arcana.” Spells are divided into different elemental types—fire, water, air, earth, lightning, and chaos—and each has its own unique flavor, offering projectiles, traps, dashes, summons, and more. Players can equip a set of spells, including a basic att...
It's a good introductory roguelike: simple, yet variable; concise, yet expandable; and easy to learn, yet just the right amount of difficult to master. There are enough elements to spark curiosity and experimentation, but not so much as to overwhelm the player with so many possibilities that they become discouraged.
dashing thought enemies to avoid attacks dose not work because they lock on to you and just slap you after trying. the maps don't have much room to move so this happens a lot and just reminds me of games that don't do this, then i wounder why I'm not playing those games instead
Just isn't fun. The only reliable way to play is hit and run, which is boring for a game that supposedly is about combos. Otherwise, you get stun locked and forced to take a ton of damage for no reason. You're better off playing something else.
A great game I 100%'d. In this game you CAST SPELLS as a cool FIGHT WIZARD, and there are a lot of spells to unlock and cast! It's a top-down action roguelite but has more roguelike aspects as the only power you grow is your collection of starting items and spells. Everything else is game knowledge. The particle effects aren't as overbearing as most modern games, and you generally have a decent read of the battlefield. It is however challengingly fast paced, and will test your movement and knowledge, as there are no i-frame dodges barring two specific items and specific spells. Overall, a fun game for people who can handle its faster pace. TL;DR I LOVE FEEDING MY CURSE ADDICTION
Highly reccomend this if you want short low story games, quick, clean combos, and pixel art animation always gets me.
