About the Game

The Divine is dead. The Void approaches. And the powers lying dormant within you are soon to awaken. The battle for Divinity has begun. Choose wisely and trust sparingly; darkness lurks within every heart.

Who will you be?

A flesh-eating Elf, an Imperial Lizard or an Undead, risen from the grave? Discover how the world reacts differently to who - or what - you are.

It’s time for a new Divinity!

Gather your party and develop relationships with your companions. Blast your opponents in deep, tactical, turn-based combat. Use the environment as a weapon, use height to your advantage, and manipulate the elements themselves to seal your victory.

Ascend as the god that Rivellon so desperately needs.

Explore the vast and layered world of Rivellon alone or in a party of up to 4 players in drop-in/drop-out cooperative play. Go anywhere, unleash your imagination, and explore endless ways to interact with the world. Beyond Rivellon, there’s more to explore in the brand-new PvP and Game Master modes.

  • Choose your race and origin. Choose from 6 unique origin characters with their own backgrounds and quests, or create your own as a Human, Lizard, Elf, Dwarf, or Undead. All choices have consequences.

  • Unlimited freedom to explore and experiment. Go anywhere, talk to anyone, and interact with everything! Kill any NPC without sacrificing your progress, and speak to every animal. Even ghosts might be hiding a secret or two…

  • The next generation of turn-based combat. Blast your opponents with elemental combinations. Use height to your advantage. Master over 200 skills in 12 skill schools. But beware - the game’s AI 2.0 is our most devious invention to date.

  • Up to 4 player online and split-screen multiplayer. Play with your friends online or in local split-screen with full controller support.

  • Game Master Mode: Take your adventures to the next level and craft your own stories with the Game Master Mode. Download fan-made campaigns and mods from Steam Workshop.

  • 4K Support: an Ultimate 4K experience pushing RPGs into a new era!

Wrote this review after completion. I had played this game for the first time after playing Baldurs Gate 3, so they may be some bias. It's relevant for me anyway as I probably wouldn't have touched this game otherwise. It's difficult not to scrutinize unfairly because of this. The main points for me; - Scenery/locations; All locations for each act (enhanced edition) are unique. well made and mostly interesting for exploration. The graphics aren't 10/10 but did at times pause for a moment to check out the areas with "aww" - Characters/world building; the main characters have good backstories and are likeable (can depend on who you chose). Motivations/voice acting are great. I do think good chunk enemies or a few NPC's have either paper thin motivations or very predicable actions. There a plenty of small hints scattered around to help with world building/secret locations when looking for it. - Combat; combat encounters are engaging with plenty of options to choose when fighting. Naturally I came here after Baldurs gate 3, and I'm so happy I did. It feels like the precursor to BG3, and that's great because it holds up today in every way. You're immediately hit with an interesting and different world with it's own mechanics. I was honestly elated that it was different from BG3 in so many ways as it felt like I had an ENTIRELY new world and game to discover but with the same quality I'd come to love! I'm still making my way through but so far I'm loving it!

I've played this quite a bit and am just now getting to the review. This is a great game. Rich story, great characters, awesome character creation/customization, all in a beautifully detailed world. The way you can build your character is very in-depth, and that alone offers tons of replay value in itself. Then, there are many ways to play and complete quests, so there is even more replay options. You could replay this game (which will take you 40+ hours on one run) 100 times and still have room for new and exciting things. No night/day cycle is a bit out of character for a classic RPG, but it is what it is. No big deal. Larian had their reasons. All in all, this is a fantastic RPG that everyone should try. I'm giving it a 10. Great job. Thanks Larian.

The combat here is an improvement over DOS1, but it’s still flat. Battles usually turn into AoE DPS races, relying on stat checks rather than map control or positioning. The game doesn’t bother to explain many of its own mechanics—unlike BG3—so you often end up relying on the wiki for answers. For example, I only found out by accident that totems work differently when placed on special surfaces, and had to dig through the wiki to understand it, because the game simply doesn’t care to explain. On top of that, it’s missing basic CRPG staples like flanking or range disadvantages. Overall, better than DOS1, but still far behind BG3.

I hate the quest with the black cat with all my soul in the beginning of the game. I had to re-load 3 times just because he died or disappeared. The most stupid quest I had ever seen in my life. He has no self preservation instincts.
