About This Game

A diorama is NOT a game, nor is it a demo. Simply put, a diorama is a painting you can visit with a simple goal of inspiring a sense of wonder. They are an ideal retreat to ponder and be somewhere else.

The Marchland is the third entry in 'The Shoebox Diorama' series, an ongoing series of fantastical dioramas for VR devices by interactive illustrator 'Daniel Ernst'. A diorama can be explored as a standalone experience or as an interconnected experience through the ‘Table of Contents’ diorama (coming soon), which serves as the central hub.

Visit a tollbooth where the visitor can experience what it feels like to be in between the real and virtual world and become a poltergeist of some sorts. You're invisible, but you will see, feel and hear objects in the environment react to your touch. You can walk through walls, knock on windows, and ruffle the plants. Or take a seat in the rain and watch as the invisible cars pass by. Before you know it, you have crossed over into ‘The Marchland’.

This single scene is all about the atmosphere (and immersion) not much else to it, bit pricey for what it is. Yet i still hope there is more from this creator, some great ideas thrown in.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
So I got this app for .74 cents USD in the VR Spring Sale. The diorama is absolutely beautiful to look at and experience. In fact, I also really enjoyed the main menu "shoebox" diaroma. However, beware of what you're getting as the experience is rather limited. Is it worth .74 cents? You betcha! Is it worth the normal price of $2.99? Only if you want to support the artist (and you should if you enjoy these type of artsy experiences in VR!)

Not as good as No.1 (in my opinion), but still a nice experience. Love to be in a different world.

+Short Visual Experience +Nice -Costs money -Not a lot of bang for your buck 2.5/5 Short experience, Diorama 1 was better, longer, and free. There are a great deal of subtitle details here, like ghost cars passing through, and the jacket in the office gently moving. The whole thing is really beautiful. That being said, it is overpriced. A fair price would be $1.99

Don't forget to pretend you're in a horror movie pulling back the curtains in horror! Real nice touch there I didn't notice the first time around. These VR micro experiences are actually priced accordingly compared to a lot in the marketplace. Both Blocked in and Marchland are essentially just single rooms with different views, but I have been waiting to play them for 2 years since never being able to get them to work on our Oculus DK2! Both experiences are overflowing with prescence, even if for only a few minutes of your time.

Intersting experiment but probably not worth $3, got on sale for $1, that seems a little better.

Beautiful, even the menu system is nice, but limited. It's aready very cheap and it was on sale when I got it, and for that reason I will recommend this game. If you want something to interact with, this is not the game for you. If you like rain, and don't mind shelling out a few dollars for a very well rendered environment by all means. I'm looking forward to when someone has enough time to make a full length game this beautiful.

Interesting, try it if you can spare the €5.
