About This Game

A tale of emotion versus reason…

In Tales of Berseria, players embark on a journey of self-discovery as they assume the role of Velvet, a young woman whose once kind demeanor has been replaced and overcome with a festering anger and hatred after a traumatic experience three years prior to the events within Tales of Berseria. Velvet will join a crew of pirates as they sail across the sea and visit the many islands that make up the sacred kingdom of Midgand in an all-new adventure developed by the celebrated team behind the Tales of series. Veteran Tales of character designer Mutsumi Inomata has personally designed Velvet and famous Japanese animation studio, ufotable, returns to animate the game’s breathtaking cutscenes; delivering truly epic and emotional storytelling in their unique style.

Tales of Berseria - 100% Completion Review Score: 9/10 Tales of Berseria is a JRPG with a twist in that you don't play as a Hero but rather a Anti-Villain Protagonist after fully completing this game i'll give some Pro, Neutrals and Cons Pro's: -Good and Unique Anti-Villain Protagonist that isn't your do gooder type of Hero, but she will still do some good every once in a while, if she feels like it lol -Good Characters that are all fresh and unique with great Designs -Great Story that is unique and quite refreshing from the standard Good vs Evil plot lines of most JRPG's, almost feels like a Edgier Shonen Anime honestly -Big World with lots to Explore and Discover and a lot of Collectibles as well -Has Great Character Customization with tons of Cosmetics, Loadouts, Artes and Titles -Good X-Appeal, doesn't shy away from the Spice -Fun Real Time Combat and Gameplay -Good Music -Good Voice Acting -Good Length Game, took me 88 hours to 100% this game -Lots of Skits and Cutscenes, tons ...

The worst main entry in the Tales series. The story is pretentious, childish and tries way too hard to pretend it's deep when it isn't (Not in the sligthliest). The characters are a bunch of whinny spoiled edgelord brats that yell their motivation (singular, since there's a single one for each character) to each other in a poor attempt of disguising the lack of depth with overly emotional speeches (With stellar performances from the voice actors in both English and Japanese though). Despite that, there's nothing really there aside from almost all of them having a perpetual "Oh, poor me" mentality and repeating their core objective over and over. Take a shot every time Velvet says "Kill Artorious" (or something similar) or Eizen says the word "Curse". Well, you better not, you won't live long if you try to do that. Have you ever watched Naruto and thought: "Boy, I sure want more of Naruto and Sasuke yelling each other names"? Have you ever watched Sword Art Online and thought: "God, I...

I wanted to like this so bad but I can't bring myself to. The party in this game is absolutely stellar, from the characters to the interactions to the voice acting, these goobers rule and I love them. But the game is so bad. Combat wants you to think it's some action game that drowns in it's own depth, meanwhile I'm over here mashing a single weakness chain with the occasional Break Soul use every fight. Exploration is useless, since both the world and the dungeons are so bland they might as well be made of stock assets and the only thing you find are more bad fights. The equipment system introduces the art of bombarding you with absolute trash loot you dismantle and reforge for next to no benefit aside from shitty random skills. I wish these characters were in a better game.

I actually love this game but why the f**** is this getting region locked alongside many of Bandai Namco's games? Incredibly annoying and unnecessary

Evanescence the JRPG Okay but in all seriousness, weather or not I can recommend this game to you will largely depend on weather or not you are a gameplay person or a story/characters person. A large majority of it's gameplay loop is incredibly... meh... It's functional for what it is (I didn't have any crashes or bugs throughout my adventure) But my biggest issue with the game has a lot to do with it's difficulty in the battling system. I was playing the game on Moderate difficulty while mainly sticking with playing as Velvet for the entire game and I was able to get through every fight in the game including bosses by setting Artes that the enemy is weak to on one button and spamming said button while occasionally pressing RT or LT+RT (I was playing with an Xbox controller BTW) until the final boss which admittedly was way more of a challenge. If you do want more of an engaging challenge, I would highly recommend either playing on a higher difficulty than Moderate and/or switchin...

Tales of Berseria, Bandai Namco Entertainment’s 16th mainline entry in the Tales series, marks a return to form for the franchise. Set in the Holy Midgand Empire. This action RPG features Velvet Crowe, the first female protagonist in the series. Her introduction is significant, as it not only enriches the narrative but also serves as a strong step toward better female representation in gaming. Velvet Crowe embarks on a quest for revenge after the Scarlet Night transforms people into daemons, and her character is well-developed, allowing players to connect with her motivations and struggles. This 45-hour journey stands out as the best in the series, delving into the darker aspects of the human heart. The game excels in character development, featuring a cast of emotionally complex characters, including the pirate Eizen, the witch Magilou, and the demon Rokurou. Their camaraderie develops through engaging dialogue skits and well-crafted cutscenes, making players invest in th...

Awful story, annoying characters, and a weak combat system. The plot feels like some talentless writer’s attempt at reimagining Berserk.

Slog gameplay with everything taking a whole generation to kill if you decide you want to play on a higher difficulty.
