About This Game

You are Carter. A lone hunter stationed on the isolated island of Colbrook. Everyone on the island has either been infected with some kind of bacteria or is in a state of survival. Your objective is to escape the island alive and save as many survivors as you can! The game has a compelling story line, with various character involvement and cinematic cut scenes.

In this top down zombie survival game you must scavenge areas for crucial items, survive waves of zombies, search for any survivors and secure safe houses. By securing safe houses with survivors and repairing your barricades you will be able to fast-travel in the game. You will be required to craft important items that will help you on your quest. You will also have access to multiple weapons, such as hand guns, assault rifles, powerful shotguns, a crossbow, throwing knives, cocktail molotovs, explosive mines, grenades and more. You will also have various melee weapons to break crates containing items to craft or simply to defend yourself when you’re out of ammo.

As you progress in the game you will find blueprints that will unlock new crafting skills. These skills will be indispensable for creating medic packs to heal yourself, sticky bombs for breaking down important doors, lock picks for gaining access to secret areas or for crafting several other weapons. The game also has optional side quests like collecting important letters that will give insight on the infection or completing achievements.

The different infected you will encounter:

Slow Zombies - Relatively easy to kill, yet can appear in mass.
Runners - Fast zombies with more resistance. Will add a new level of stress!
Zombie Beasts - Slow, yet very resistant and very strong. Don't let these guys touch you!

Game Features

 • Try to escape the island and the infection
 • Find survivors and secure safe houses
 • Scavenge the areas and then craft your weapons and items
 • Buy new weapons in the optional shop
 • Collect letters and obtain achievements
 • Try not to die

It's very promising for something this early into development.. The graphics look great. The controls are surprisingly right. I'm not a big fan of those games where WSAD moves my character around and I use the mouse to click on enemies to shoot, but this game is paced well enough where that was not an issue at all. I picked up my controller and the left analog was able to move my character around!! If he makes it so the right analog allows me to aim like a twin stick shooter, this is going to be a fantastic game! PLEASE DO THIS! Also, this game has a really great ragdoll physics engine. After you shoot down a zombie, you can sort of kick him around for a bit before he disappears. The bad? It's got issues. Not the kind of issues you want in a game. In my case, I can't click on the inventory button in full screen mode. Just not possible. In windowed mode if you maximize the window, it works fine. So that's something I expect will get fixed very soon, the developer already...

You've played this game a hundred times before. Maybe in a browser, maybe you bought it for a pittance in a Steam sale because what are you really risking for like £0.07 and ooh, trading cards. It isn't awful and it is still obviously a very early build but I honestly can't see it developing into anything worth picking up except begrudgingly as part of a bundle. I'll spare you the well-worn intricacies of Dark Days (make molotovs, buy guns, kill fast/slow/brute zombie, next level) and instead offer the developers a little feedback just to bring the title up to speed with even the most mediocre of titles that share its genre. 1.) There's no intensity. None. Why would I panic about any of my fences breaking when I can easily outrun even the fastest zombie? I often found myself jumping over the barricades anyway, searching for stuff to kill that was actually taking forever to spawn. 2.) Guns and ammo are far too cheap and some are gamebreaking. As soon as I got ho...

I think a critic should state their likes and dislikes before they do a hatchet job on some style of game they didn't like to begin with or know much about..So I normally play pipe puffer empire building games, the more boring the better and I'm into my 68th summer so zombie shooters are not my staple by any means." Dark Days" seems certainly OK,fine, and any short comings could be my fault rather than the games. It looks ok not great but certainly functional,I used my Sidewinder 2 joystick and my Logitech Precision controller and both ,surprisingly, worked well.I found keyboard control fine ,pretty easy really .Not a lot of assistance getting up and running but enough for me so its heaps really. No crashes, bugs, bad boogie woogie, it ran well and was fun.I'm running it in Win7 64 bit and it runs this game superbly. Things I didn't like much are ( 1) inaccurate gunfire. I was raised in the 1 shot 1 kill era but it seems even at a few feet aiming is quite impossible in this gam...

if you plan on getting this game don't, just save your money. to begin with the voice acting is just terrible (it sounds like when someone is on tv but they dont want there real voice heard so they distort it) and the gameplay reflects it, i get lost easily in foliage there is no indication on where you should be heading until you literally run against the wall and wait for the prompt to proceed. The zombies are a real pain in the butt to kill in the beginning, the melee is bad as well. The cutscene animations are garbage (if i can call it animation), the mouse stays locked on your screen and that gets old fast. i wish those two men i helped sprayed my head everywhere so i would be spared of playing this game.

Wow, instant refund. I'm sorry this is just awful Horrible controls terrible voice acting (lol bad) moving around is tedious, you never no where your going or allowed to go using the map doesnt help zombies or infected move together and look the same, if a group of 4 come at you they're all moving the same start with a double barrel shot gun hardly any ammo long reloads, so you keep having to walk around trying to reload on a map that has invisible walls. So if your backing up to shoot you might be able to go to the left or right or up and down but you never know till you get to the side of the screen..this is nothing like I expected from watching videos...

Another top down zombie shooter game? Yes, I know what you are saying to yourself... because I asked the same thing when I saw this new early access action game pop up today on sale! But for what it offers it's first day in early access, it offers a HUGE bang for your gaming dollar! Here's my 'First Play on Launch Day" early access review video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SzuF9ZwR-vU Destructable items? Check, Ability to craft items? Check. Ability to buy new items and sell items? Check. Lots of different weapons? Check. Is it fun? Check! It is cool? Double check! Does it control well with the mouse and keyboard? Check! ..Is it worth the regular price of $1.99 USD on Steam? Triple Check! Just quit complaining already. Yes it's another zombie shooter. Yes, it's another top down shooter. ..Suck it up butter cup, buy it already.. you know you want to.. and go kick some zombies butt!

Cheap game, all around cheap piece of crap. Voice acting will have you wanting to mute game altogether. Could have been fun but can't get over this feeling that the game should have stayed in oven a little longer. It just feels incomplete. Stuck at a point on securing the first safehouse. Zombies killed - Check, Gates repaired - Check, 2/3 survivors and here lies the problem. You can only move to places you've been, can't move farther because I have searched every where and the 3rd survivor is non existant. Did I miss something? I guess I'll never now, spent as much time as I could before deciding that this was a complete waste of my time and money. The game only tells you that you can't move further. You have no idea of knowing if you've missed something or if that part of game doesn't open till way later in game. Several spots to use sticky bombs yet no idea of when that blueprint will drop. Stay away, you've been warned lol

I've never played an Early Access game that took 25 minutes to finish. 3 weapons, 3 enemies, and 7 levels that all look the same. Usually when a game comes out in Early Access it has some actual lasting content so players can get a taste of things to come as well as provide feedback to the developer. The only impression I got from this is that it'll either take forever to finish or the devs will abandon it. This game is so early in development that it feels like nothing more than a prototype. The only feedback that can be provided from this experience is to add some actual content. If future content is going to be identical to what we see here, then it'll be just as dull and boring. Oh yea, and you can play a slightly uglier version of this game completely for free on Newgrounds: www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/655182 So they decided to upgrade the engine and textures slightly and re-sell it for $2. My full impression of this game is available here including a huge amount of criti...
