As a big fan of the Cthulhu mythos, this game really delivered. The point-and-click format lends itself perfectly to this kind of storytelling, and I wasn’t bored for a single minute. The puzzles were incredibly smart (some had me scratching my head for a while) and there are also some brilliantly grim game overs for making foolish choices. The endgame, though, is the real highlight. It immerses you in the main character’s situation in a way that feels authentic and unsettling, and the final twist was the perfect payoff. Visually, the game uses a retro pixel art style reminiscent of classic LucasArts adventures. Far from feeling dated, it really enhances the atmosphere, amplifying the creepiness and nostalgia in equal measure. Even if you haven’t read The Shadow Over Innsmouth, this is a gripping and eerie tale that stands on its own. I’d definitely recommend it to horror fans and point-and-click adventure enthusiasts alike. I was so engrossed, I ended up finishing it ...

About the Game
Based on 'The Shadow over Innsmouth' by master of horror H.P. Lovecraft, and inspired by the classic gameplay of the early 90s' Lucasarts adventures, Chronicle of Innsmouth sets you on a path to discover the secrets of the cursed town of Innsmouth. The second chapter of this franchise, Mountains of Madness, will be available on Steam very soon – you can already Wishlist and follow it here. The story begins with a trip through New England. At the Newburyport station, you hear for the first time about the fishing town of Innsmouth – once a rich and thriving port, now a decadent forsaken place, surrounded by rumors about disappearances, hidden cults and all kinds of unspeakable horrors.
.Moved by sheer curiosity, you decided to investigate the truth behind these odd stories. But Innsmouth and its inhabitants guard its secrets carefully – and the truth might be a burden too heavy for anyone's sanity. Investigate, gather information and solve enigmas and puzzles to get to the bottom of all the mysteries of Innsmouth – if you dare, for you may find answers you would have preferred not to hear.

A cool little point and click that has the vibe and feel of an old 90's point and click. As someone who enjoys the Cthulhu mythos most of the story did not come as a surprise but it was still fun to uncover them in this new light. I do think I enjoyed the game more knowing what I was in store for. I do think I need to warn new players that the 2nd half of the game feels more obtuse with puzzles that have non-explained ways of controlling and sudden additional mechanics that might turn off a lot of people so keep that in mind. The first half however was more of a straightforward point and click and was very enjoyable to play. That said, I think I would give this game a 4 out of 5.
