Just started this, putting the "gal-gameness" aside, the plot is actually pretty good. It is a pretty good read, and I appreciate the tip list puts a "FICTION" tag on definitions that are not true, so people won't be misinformed. I have always been interested in time travelling, so this game plot is kinda for me. But sometimes, I find it a bit cringy where the "gal-gameness appear" -- the girls just appears and acts embarrass, or puts on a "cutesy-act". I do hate it where Okabe
suddenly lifts up Makise's shirt, even though it is not shown but mentioned, I still dislike it regardless. Well maybe it is because I am a woman, so I hate it.
Okabe's voice also puts me off sometimes, he sounds a bit like those "isekai-ed" men-characters, who build a harem of tsundere girls in ecchi anime. But since he is a Chunnibyo, the voice is befitting for him. His VA did a really good job.. A truly talented VA, tbh! I would have enjoyed it even better without the "gal-gamen...

This game is an absolute masterpiece. I love everything about it, the characters, the plot, everything. Never had I felt so much by reading, watching, or playing something. This game had me crying every 10 minutes. It´s an amazing journey and definetly worth playing. It´s my favorite visual novel yet.
Beautiful Art, Unbearable Everything Else I really wanted to like STEINS;GATE. I'd heard so many good things about it over the years and finally picked it up to play on my Steam Deck. Unfortunately, I just couldn't get into it, no matter how hard I tried. My biggest issue is with the characters, especially the protagonist. I found him incredibly unlikable, and his "mad scientist" persona was more grating than charming. The rest of the cast felt like a collection of goofy, one-dimensional anime tropes that I couldn't connect with or find interesting. This leads to the story, which for me, just meandered without any real hook. The plot felt silly and failed to grab my attention. It got to the point where I was skipping through dialogue because reading it felt like a chore. I kept waiting for that moment where it would all click, but it never came. The one saving grace is the artwork, which is absolutely beautiful. The character portraits and backgrounds are fantastic, and it's a sham...
If you're reading this review and you never read Steins;Gate and you don't know what is about, let me tell you that I envy you, because I would like to erase my mind to experience it for the first time again. This is probably the best VN ever created. If you love time travel stories you're gonna love it. The first half is a bit slow-paced, but it's necessary to introduce you the setting and all of the amazingly written characters. I highly recommend to play this version instead of the Elite one because the art style is WAY better. I also recommend to install the CoZ patch for a better translation and experience in general. The OST will live rent free in your mind. Don't trust anyone who tell you to not play S;G, it's probably someone from the Organization that doesn't want you to know the truth. Don't waste any more time, just buy it and enjoy this journey. El. Psy. Kongroo.
This is probably the first piece of fiction that I've ever felt actual unfiltered TERROR for what happens to the characters. It's the closest series to actually inflicting trauma to me. I never thought that this Visual Novel would be the most emotionally turbulent piece of fiction to me personally. I honestly think there is something about this that taps into a part of my psyche that I'm not fully conscious about. I would not trade it for the current world line. 5/5 Absolute orz
As someone who has never watched the anime, or even knew it existed, I was happy to start a new visual novel adventure as a nice relaxing break from my other fast paced hand cramping action games. I was not ready for what unfolded. Will be watching the anime for sure to see how it differs if at all, but this may be the best time travel story that exists, and the handling of the visual novel format was perfect. 10/10
After 79 hours and getting all the achivements I can say without a doubt that this is absolutely worth it (at least in my opinion)
I watched the anime more than a decade ago, and decided buying the VN cause I never heard of it (or might have forgotten since). Tears still converge to this day. It was so satisfaying to discover once again this story which will always keep you engaged till the end
(((((s))))
if you give it a go. While not remembering when the game occured (day/month) I found myself playing at the same pace as IRL. That must be the choice of Steins;Gate epk
This is just so cinematic. One of the greatest Visual Novel series ever. I've been watching the whole anime series over and over, but when I first play the game, it just hit different. Highly recommend to also play Steins;Gate 0 and the other games from the series.
