The game is basically one massive stat check. For the first 20 hours or so, you essentially can't kill anything more powerful than a rat (2 xp btw) in a timely manner without spamming grenades. Until you're very high level or break the game to craft potions for infinite stats in order to use high end weapons (seriously, you'd be like level 50 before having high enough stats to use decent weapons without potion abuse) every single combat is just a "do I have enough grenades to finish this" and if you run out of grenades, reload -> rest to buy more grenades -> repeat. I really wanted to like this game because I am a huge fallout 4 / skyrim enjoyer, but jesus christ this makes skyrim combat feel polished by comparison. Since I was getting very impatient grinding out enough money / levels to use weapons that do actual damage, I decided to cheat myself to the stat requirements for some of the weapons that I had picked up but been unable to use for 15+ hours. All the sudden I four shot ...

Surprisingly good, just beware that the beginning of the game is very punishing even for a PB game, so dont even think about fighting enemies at the beginning, just do the quests as they provide a lot of necessary EXP. The highlights for me were the world exploration and the amount of dialogue and focus on the story and companion characters - compared to the previous games from PB I played, the copious amount of dialogue in ELEX really made it feel "alive" and "lived in", it grounds the fantasy/sci-fi mashup setting with a lot of lore dialogue. The game world is BIG (with insane verticality), several factions to join (personally I liked the Outlaws the most, their town and biome is just very pretty), a ton of gameplay systems and mechanics, several companion characters all of which have their own quest lines, good RPG stuff. In short, in gets better the longer you play, the beginning of the game is rough and combat will feel bad but then as you level up and upgrade your attributes it...

Audio doesn't work. A bit of farting around got the audio working in the intro sequence, but not in the game. Quick check shows it's very common but no consistent fixes. I'm so done fixing games before I can play them. I need to get better at checking them right after purchase though.

I wanted to like the game, but it just wasn't fun. Combat feels very clunky. After five level-ups, I still wasn't sure how I should or would want to build the character. Dialogue was very disappointing. The main character speaks like he has 6 intelligence and 3 charisma. The NPCs are more dynamic.

I’m not really a fan of the setting, and the game is clearly on the budget side, but it still has that classic Piranha Bytes charm. I ended up enjoying it — at least through the first half.

Im sorry guys I just cannot recomend this game. I have had it for a few years now and I just dont know how I am going to play a 27 hour story with this when the combat is way to clunky, I cannot move the character very well (ex - I was running from guys, went for a second to pick up a medicinal herb so i dont die, and while that should take half a second instead it takes the character like 2 full seconds, just to turn around and try to take plant) The list goes on and on, I want to like it but while the ideas are good, if playing the game even so much as walking or combat..basic stuff is so hard...theres no point in playing. If you are going to have 'dark souls' combat, then it needs to be tight...I cant even fight any thing because its just so clunky. Its been years and the same is still not finished. So sorry. this game is no good.

А мне понравилось. Правда кривая сложности сломана, и вторая половина игры не такая увлекательная, но в целом прошел уже 2 раза. Жаль пираньи приказали долго жить, их продукт сопровождал меня с подросткового возраста и был эталоном игростроя

This is not a great game, not an AAA title. The premise is great and you'll find nuggets of backstory all over the place, that part is great, the story unique and so are the landscapes and vistas. But it is unrefined and you can tell it is made by a much smaller team than, lets say FO4. It is also very very grindy. During the late game I made use of an infinite money glitch, just to finish my playtrough, without it would have abandoned the game. I also made use of video tutorials and online weapon charts. Many videos are overstating skillz needed, but it's just better gear and personal upgrades.... more endurance = better combat experience, you know grindy. I still recommend it, since to me it was unique enough. Vertical vistas and Scandinavian mysticism.

Abysmal balancing. It's runnaway simulator because you deal literally 0 damage to anything that is not a chicken.
