I came to this game late, 1997 or 98, but I've been playing it as one of my top 5 ever since. The graphics are primitive by modern standards, and it has a few bugs. The "reference card" that you have to look things up on to prove you own the game is a nuisance. Those are its bad points. It has a resource-allocation setup that's different from any other game I've played (and I wish more of them had something like it), but its best characteristic is that it does what a good game does - it presents you with problems, and you have to go a few turns to find out if your fix actually worked. They're not insurmountably difficult problems, so with much experience at all, you'll probably have a a good solution, but the AI players DO try to screw you up, hence, you need to keep an eye on that situation until you know for sure that that issue has been put to bed. archaic and probably charming for the right person. I think too much of this unfortunately comes across as dated and a precursor to stellaris. It's unfortunate, but I'm more of a MO2 fan since that at least has just slightly enough to draw me in than this game does. Not a bad game, just wouldn't recommend checking it out other than for just seeing what it is. Plus it is only 25mb or something so that's pretty impressive by todays standards.
