About This Game

The beauty of this armored warfare simulation is that it can be played from the simplest action mode to the most complex operational level of company command. You may choose to command only your particular tank or as many as 20 tanks, artillery and aircraft, while the battle rages around you with up to 40 total vehicles on the battlefield. Train at the army's tank school at Fort Knox before being called to battle in Central Europe or the Middle East.

Multiple views from inside the tank, the authentic weapons systems and instrumentation, plus the spectacular graphics and rolling terrain combine to provide realism at its best. The fifteen challenging missions will satisfy even the most avid tankers. Call for reconnaissance planes and ground support when you encounter perilous situations as the Soviets send their best T-80 tanks, artillery and Frogfoot aircraft to halt your offensive. It's a fight to the finish. To the victor go the spoils!

  • Control up to 16 (not just 4 tanks)
  • Head-to-head option
  • Command at the company, platoon, or individual tank level (commander, gunner, driver)
  • Three theaters of action (Fort Knox, Central Europe or the Middle East)
  • 15 different missions
  • Reconnaisance, out-of-tank, and four different crew perspective views
  • Easy-to-learn action mode
  • Incredibly realistic rolling terrain and outstanding 3-D solid modelling graphics
  • Topographical battlefield map for strategic planning with 16 levels of zoom
  • Authentic weapons systems
  • Real-time action
  • Night mode with thermal imaging
  • Extremely large battlefield area (3 maps each containing over 600,000 acres)

TANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Game is an oldie but a goodie, command tanks, destroy other tanks from an RTS style of mechanics and over view though you can go into a tank itself and wreck some havoc! And if you're like me, you might even "accidentally" destroy your own tanks just for the hell of it. Ignore my low time spent on this game. I have played this years before I found this on here. I can no longer run my original copy of this game on new computers but this one works! (Sort of).

GET THE MANUAL YOU NEED IT. http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php?view.882 So... why don't you own it yet? It's awesome! You can control up to 4 platoons of tanks, (up to 16 tanks) and unlike the name would imply, you not only control M1A1's, but also M1 and M1A2 Abrmas tanks, (of course the only real difference is the gun) and the game gives you the ability to swap between the gunner, driver, and commander at will. You can also use CAS and Artillery strikes to neutralize the enemy if you want to be more passive with your tanks. There are 3 theaters for you to fight in, Fort Knox, Central Europe, and The Middle East, all with their own set of missions. (you can swap between theaters by pressing the "Fort Knox" icon in the main menu, pressing it will cycle through the theaters.) Overall the game is easy to pick up and play once you know the controls, and the enemy AI at its lowest difficulty is very forgiving, making this game very friendly to beginners. My only gripe is the grap...

Although Microprose's M1 Tank Platoon is more well known from the era that this game came out in -1989, Tank is probably a more realistic simulation. This game is like a very early Steel Beasts, and even has recon drones. A lot of strategic and tactical options and enemy units positions are not always the same every time. The animations for gun fire and hitting tanks are great - can take a number hits to kill a tank and see its turret fly off. M1 Tank Platoon is a fantastic game but so is this one - very underrated

This is an old DOS game originally from 1989. It was apparently improved and re-released in 1993. You will need the manual for this one: http://www.replacementdocs.com/download.php?view.882. If you didn't own this game years ago, you likely will get nothing out of it, which is why I can't recommend it. I only bought it because it was the first computer game my dad bought for the first computer we had in our house in '98 or '99 and it was on sale here on Steam for $1. I actually just found it a couple weeks ago after being reminded of it talking with my parents one day, so it's a nostalgia purchase for sure. I don't think it's worth $6.99. It doesn't even come with the manual. COME ON, STEAM!!! By the way, the manual was added onto in 1993 and so the "Supplemental" part corrects and adds some info to the pages before it, like keybindings. In particular, see below about the Auto-Driver and Auto-Gunner toggles. That said, this is a Tank simulator and honestly I think it's an i...

I owned this back in the day when it was brand-spanking new and I spent countless hours playing it. For the era it was released in, and the charmingly Low-Fi VGA graphics of the time, there's a huge amount of nostalgic fun to be had. Classic, early 90's hypothetical NATO / Warsaw Pact conflicts with strategic options like recon helicopters, artillery bombardments, and the deployment of the fearsome A-10 Tank-Killer. Too cheap to not get if you love that classic, DOS military gaming experience.
