BioShock 2 Remastered trims some of the fat from its predecessor, with one of the most welcome quality-of-life improvements being the removal of the Pipe Dream-style hacking mini-game. It’s replaced by a faster, timing-based mechanic - just press A at the right moment on a sliding scale. Small change, big impact. Where the game stumbles is in its core gameplay loop. Much of your time is spent defending a Little Sister while she harvests ADAM - essentially a repeated "defend the payload" sequence across each level. After rescuing or harvesting all two/three Sisters in a given area, you're met with a Big Sister fight. While it makes thematic sense - you are a Big Daddy, after all - it begins to feel formulaic and repetitive. The included Protector Trials DLC doubles down on this idea, introducing varying loadouts, enemy waves, and conditions to mix things up. Still, my personal (possibly hot) take: the loop wore thin over time. What kept me engaged was the excellent narrative and voi...

Buen juego, un crash cada 5 minutos. Te dan ganas de cortarte la chota con una cuchara cuando te olvidas de guardar.
First off one of the best games ever made. Doubt we will get anything close to the Bioshock 1 or 2 for some time. Honestly i wouldn't hate the remaster if it was more stable than a literal house of cards. I can't Wombo combo a big sister without a repeatable crash to desktop. Also I am pretty sure they didn't even fix any of the bugs that the original had so is it really a remaster if you only up the graphics?
Love this game. Playing as a big daddy was brilliant and crushing the baddies with the drill is great to use! Have replayed a few times now and still a great play through each time!
Pretty good game but it is really dated at this point. The story and the characters were interesting and the world design of bioshock is obviously good, and while the ideas of the gameplay are pretty cool and I enjoyed my playstyle(lots of hacking and turret usage) i didn't find the gunplay good at all, it feels really weightless and the impact sound effects aren't great. Story was pretty solid though far from the best thing I've ever played story wise. You can tell they either aren't experienced with or the engine isn't great at facial animation because of how much of the story is delivered through audio sources only. I think if I had to give it a number it'd be a 6/10, solid & pretty good but not amazing. Had a pretty good time and glad I played it.
Great game, improvement in terms of mechanics and arsenal to 1st Game. But god damn the last level called "Inner Persephone" is not optimized at all. I wish that I could lie about this but my game crashed in that level and that level alone 26 times. (Rest of the game i experienced 3 crashes.)
I love the series, and 2 is probably my favorite, but this remaster is so F*CKING AGGRAVATING. Plagued with random crashes that may or may not set you back hours because you didn't save, or stupid unexpected issues like the Drill Specialist Tonic being forcefully shadow-equipped so you can ONLY use certain weapons despite it not actually being equipped. It's a shame because you really get invested in the gameplay/atmosphere and then dumb sh*t like that happens. FIX THIS ALREADY
I know the remaster has had some performance issues. My advice? Download the Remastered Crash Fix from Nexus Mods. Played through it without a single crash with that installed. And you achievement hunters will be happy to know this won't disable your getting of achievements.
bioshock2 keeps everything I love about the bioshock universe - the decaying glamour of Rapture, the moral shadows, and a narrative that makes the world feel painfully alive. stepping into a big daddy suit adds a fresh angle on power and vulnerability, and the story digs into themes of choice, community, and what we owe each other. that said, some of the updated mechanics left me a bit cold. the first game’s hacking - those tense little pipe-laying puzzles felt like a perfect fit for Rapture’s leaky, improvised tech. bioshock2’s timing-based version is faster, sure, but it loses that tactile, tinker-box charm. I still had a great time exploring and soaking in the lore; I just miss the clever friction that made even a vending machine feel like part of the story.
I will start of by saying Bioshock 2 is not the best Bioshock game, by a long stretch. Bioshock 1 is an absolute classic. Bioshock Intinite has an awesome story and gameplay, but 2 seems like a bit of a cash grab compared to these 2. The story is a bit meh, especially compared to the first one, which it does not really sit well with, and it appears to be more of an experiment tech demo to see whether RPG elements would work in a Bioshock game, rather than building a unique experience. One major flaw compared to the original is you are locked out of each area when you move on to the next one. 1 allowed you to revisit all prior areas right up until near the end, but in this one. It is a true shooter on rails, and while Infinite went for the same approach, it had the story to carry it off, which is what this one really lacks. not to mention the reuse on nearly every enemy in the first one. One minor thing that nearly ruined my playthrough is the button change when dealing with...
