About the Game
Originally released on Early Access in 2016, Unfortunate Spacemen is a multiplayer game about space-based deception and murder in space! Spacemen work diligently to be rescued from their failing outpost, but not everyone is who they claim to be... Death is part of life in space, and you're no exception to the rule. Paranoia runs rampant.
- Shapeshifter Mode: Survive, hunt, or complete randomized objectives to escape, in desolate settlements, arctic outposts, derelict space stations, warp-speed hypertrains, or ancient digsites across 15 distinct alien locales, and up to 16 players per match!
- As a Spaceman, complete objectives to call for rescue, or go hunt the Monster in packs!
- Mimic and devour the Spacemen as the Monster from the blackest reaches of the galaxy! Lay traps, disguise as other players, or take them head-on in your devestating Monster Form!
- As a Traitor, help the Monster win, perhaps even at the cost of your own life!
- Solo / Co-op Story Mode: Fight against the Crumerian insect swarm as you battle with up to 5 friends through the bonus story mode!
- Solo / Co-op Survival Mode: Survive with up to 9 other friends for as long as you can against progressively more difficult waves of enemies!
- Proximity Chat: All in-game communication fades with distance from the speaker, so you can roam, sneak, hide, and eavesdrop as you hunt or run from other players!
- Security Guards (Bots) roam the facility. Use them to help learn the ropes and practice, or just add them for more chaos to a multiplayer game!
- Rank up through The Company to unlock new customization and perks to customize your look and your playstyle!

Ima be honest here im getting this game because Mandalore (who I still think is Sseth) said to. Nice game tho seems promising to be fun
I want there to be a 'middle-ground' rating, not just 'i do (not) reccomend this. This game LOOKS fun, let me say. The problem is, there are never any servers open. Opening your own doesn't come up with any results, and if you play a game with bots, be prepared to: A. Be the monster every round without variation B. Have an incredibly easy game because the AI still need work C. Have trouble seeing because everything is super-dark (and this is a problem any way you look at it) If you really want to buy this, feel free to. Unfortunately, this game still needs a lot of work and a lot more traffic.
EA game review > TLDR = Basically Trouble in terrorist town,Space station 13,The Thing wrapped together into a one fleshy monster player trying to kill everyone else and staying hidden in the process while the others are trying to complete objectives to escape. -------------------------------------------------------------- Currently the servers are empty unless someone gathers a group together but the community devs host games every saturday and post details on their discord, the average game has normally about 10+ players and last couple of hours. Currently as of 10/15/17 there is surival and shapeshifter mode. The levels perks were lowered down so players have the ability sooner. running around shooting everyone as a spaceman is a very terrible idea as if you murder people at random the monster actually increases level and you are tracked via a glow indicator by the monster. Voice chat is heavily suggested as you can communicate easier and scream for help/lie about what ever y...
It's free, you f**ks Bought it in the early days but don't regret it, it's a fun comedic horrorish coop/PvP game, the tutorial alone felt like a charming Portal-lite mixture with John Carpenter's The Thing, with some fun scripted & voiced coop missions. Horror & Comedy make a great pair, the highs & lows, room to breathe to make the upcoming scares and paranoia that much more intense, yet never letting it drag on too long to exhaust & dull us to the impact, what proper rollercoasters are all about. Haven't really played the actual PvP core that seems to be the main draw of the game, but it has a small dedicated playerbase, just follow the announcements/discord to see when they get together. Has MTXs, but the game's free and they all seem cosmetic in nature, you also get some fun coop missions & horde mode on top that you can play solo as well just fine. Runs okay on potatoes, UE4 you can tweak some stuff in Engine.ini file for further performance boosts.
Maybe with time this could shape up to be a fun game. I didn't give it much of a chance but with the lack of people playing online and the early state of the game this was a chore, not fun.
What I like: Gameplay is actually pretty fun. VOIP is VERY well implemented, shitty cheap sounding voip would genuinely screw the game over. The game has a solid, solid, solid atmosphere especially in the space maps. The gunplay actually feels good, the animations are fucking solid. Some bad design is actually pretty good. What I dislike: There is an issue with playing two games, not rounds, in a row, you essentially need to reset your game or alt-f4 which is not great. The colors should be distributed better, it really hampers gameplay imo. Overall I've recommended this to friends already so it's got my thumbs up.
This game looks like it could be fun. Too bad the average player count in the last 30 days is about 4. If I have to join a discord channel just to beg the devs of a game to play with me, that isn't really a multiplayer game. Do no buy this game expecting to use a server browser or just hop in and play. The only way to get a game is to go onto Discord and beg people to play with you. Disregard all of that. I have been told by the Steam review police this is clearly all my fault - I single handedly am to blame for this games mulitplayer issues. I will now devote the rest of my existence to ensuring that Unfortunate Spacemen always has a abundance of games to join. I will be buying 100 copies and buying a server so I can play 100 games at the same time. If you see someone playing this game online, understand it's just me.
You like the movie "The Thing"? You enjoy playing Trouble in Terrorist Town? You enjoy being in f**king space? Then this is the game for you! 10/10 would eat my friends again
It's a fun game where you essentially re-enact The Thing on various maps as colourful spacemen trying to escape while a hideous shapeshifter attempts to murder you all. It does have a few minor bugs, but nothing that impacts gameplay. The community is small which may make finding a game outside of the two weekly scheduled community games (Wednesday 6pm PST, Saturday 1pm PST) hit and miss depending on who is around in which time zone, but there is a discord which we use to set up spontaneous games when people are around.
