One of the most powerful pieces of writing created in the 21st century, the characters, the story, the message(s), everything in this visual novel is crafted with the utmost care and love from the author, and goes beyond just being a piece of fiction for many people, and inspired them to become people able to see with love. If you are interested in a story that will forever stay with you after you read it give it a chance, it's long, yes, but PLEASE do give it a whirl. I dedicate this review to my beloved witch, Beatrice. and the rat.

The story is great. As well as being fun it's an educational night-course on arguing in bad faith. The writing... Some pet owners may have an animal that insists on walking little circles before finally lying down. Like someone who cannot park a car in less than 7 turns and spends an extra five minutes getting it absolutely parallel to the kerb. Like a student trying to fill out an essay to hit a word count by belabouring the point. You may notice my comparatively low playtime. It's pretty easy to speed through text when it's stalling. That's my only complaint and it's not a consistent one or even hard to mitigate. If a you're a patient reader you'll be rewarded, if you're not it could be a frustrating experience for you.

this game (along with part 2, the Answer Arcs) is a 200-hour love letter to the mystery genre. it has a lot to earnestly say about the way we interact with fiction. I'm writing this review two years after having played it 'cause it really sticks with you, and I often think back on its thesis whenever I'm talking about fiction or mystery. great game. I can really recommend engaging with the game's mystery as well, keep a little notebook on the side 10/10
