About This Game

Staxel is a creative farming and village life game with a cast of quirky characters. Build your farmhouse, help villagers, take to the wilds to fish or hunt for bugs, and grow a variety of crops in your backyard. If you’re feeling social, you can even invite your friends over to share in the fun!

Experience Village Life

In Staxel, you’re tasked with restoring the farm to its former glory as the newest resident in a budding village. While they may have their quirks, the other residents will help you get settled in. Return the favour and help the village flourish!

When you’re not hanging out with your newfound friends or working on your farm, you could be pursuing a new hobby, completing one of many collections, spending your hard-earned money on precious seeds, or lending a hand and making your mark on the town!

Nurture Your Farm

Put down your roots and settle into life as a newcomer to the village. Starting out with a run-down, old home and farmland reclaimed by the wilderness, it’s up to you to turn the place around. Plant seeds, carefully tend to your crops, take care of your animals, and expand your farm. Don’t forget: take care of your farm, and your farm will take care of you!

Share the Fun!

Working a farm on the outskirts of an unfamiliar village can get lonely, so why not invite your friends to hang out? Staxel was designed with multiplayer in mind from day one, so team up and get your buddies working those fields! You can share a farm with your friends or become neighbours in Staxel’s vast world.

Customise Your World

Staxel’s voxel-based sandbox world lets you alter your surroundings however you like, and with a rich selection of in-game materials and an intuitive approach to modding, you can truly create your own unique world within the game.

Will you grow the village while keeping its rustic charm, or take it in an entirely new direction? Perhaps you’d rather leave the village and focus on your own projects? It’s all up to you, and your creativity is exactly the tool for the job!

Staxel is a charming voxel-based farming and village-life simulator with bright, blocky graphics and a relaxed creative mode. While the sandbox tools offer genuine fun, the game ultimately falls short in delivering a compelling, cohesive experience. The Game offers almost no narrative structure, quests, or character development. Once you’ve opened creative mode, there’s little reason to engage with the “main” game. Some of the most useful tasks—certain crops, tools, or expansions—feel locked behind additional purchases, giving it a “freemium” vibe more appropriate to mobile titles. With many features in “beta” or still under development, key systems (like NPC interactions or seasonal events) feel only half-implemented.

Note: I played the game when it came out, and around 2021, and lastly in 2023. This game may have very likely improved. I have come back to this game three different times, two of them with other people, I had assumed i had more hours than i did, but the game was just that bad sadly. Me and the other players played several years apart. There was no direction at all the first time i played and the last time i played it seemed like they attempted to do that, but it was very boring and felt like work, and i like grinding games. Honestly pretty sad to see a game like this under a god like publisher. I really really hope they just make it better, like just look at any other game that is trying to be stardew valley. Maybe i didn't give it enough of a chance. My game-play time was very limited despite it feeling at least double that. However, i have two family members who have also played it together and they QUICKLY lost interest, and this is their thing, this specific genre. Am i willing to...

It's a cute game but not finished unfortunately. You can still do a lot and the fact that you can basically build your own town with enough time and money is a super concept. I would advise to add a few mods to make it feel a little more "complete" or if you want to skip the grind.

I usually never review a game this early into playing it, however I really enjoy this game. I'm not sure how it will age with playtime, but I am already addicted to this. I am very picky when it comes to Stardew Valley inspired farming sim games, as a lot of them just feel like cheap ripoffs. I have tried to get into many of them and just don't ever end up getting that attached. However, I was very curious with this game when I saw the Minecraft like art style and gameplay. However, I found it to be a really fun crossover between typical farming sim games and block building survival games. Staxel balances both aspects really well, and makes a very relaxing-yet-addiciting game out of it. I love that it has zero limitations. No bed time, no energy level, no enemies, no health, etc. You can just play for however long without being restricted to some sort of in game schedule, it's free exploration forever. The map is relatively small, but it features enough characters and quests th...
