The game itself is potentially fun, but it has MANY issues. 1.Texture bugs in the first level and all the levels that are in that map 2.Poor Optomization: Runs at 15-25 fps and the game should run at 60fps+ on most computers with the kind of graphics it has. 3. Unpolished: The game has "bad" graphics. (Not the good kind of "bad" retro graphics, but just plain ugly ones) and poor performance, and not to mention the real landscape images in the skybox (please just get rid of that!) ...and more! The game feels like a very early EARLY-ACCESS title, I understand it's just a simple arcade shooter, but it needs a lot of work. If it was cleaned up, it could be a really fun game to pass time.

About This Game
Grabbing your trusted thompson (tommy) submachine gun, you take to the streets to dispense justice one driveby at a time. Various obstacles get in your way from innocent bystanders that you must avoid, increasingly hostile gangsters that shoot back, to changing turbulent weather conditions. As you play and progress in the game, Murphy's own grasp on reality begins to loosen, and the game's presentation style takes a dark turn.
Like in life, the decisions you make in this game have consequences.

https://youtu.be/GuKUpxjjvR4 The gun is too bulky to really use effectively, generic stages seem to repeat, and dark levels make it almost impossible to spot gangsters and leave you feeling mildly racist mistaking black innocents for red gangsters. Enjoyed going on a killing spree more than trying to save the town. Load times also kill enthusiasm going into the next day. Interesting "lane defender" style concept, just not executed well.
It's simple, but it's competent. It's basically a drive by shooting simulator with a very easy introduction and it gets progressively harder as you move through the stages. You are sitting in a car which is automatically moving and you have to hit the gangsters in the crowds of people and minimize the casualties of innocent bystanders. For the price, it's worth it. I know the animation quality isn't the best but other than that, there's nothing really wrong about the game concept or execution. There are a few issues I have with it, though. - no way to change sensitivity on controller analogs for look speed. this makes it nearly impossible after just a few levels, however it is possible to use the mouse which moves 100 times faster so IMHO it's what you will want to be using for this game. - no way to see what your controls are beyond them being flashed at the screen at the very beginning. I don't know how to speed up the car, I can't just hit start and see the controls in...
A game so poorly optimised it runs at 15fps even on high end hardware. There is a lot of promise here but in reality there are lots of issues. Apart from the subpar framerate the game is soo dark that it is very difficult to tell which colour characters are before you shoot them. Equally the lack of a real crosshair makes it difficult. Couple that with no menu mouse support and you have a game with a lot of promise but very much flawed. For our video showcasing the terrible framerate please look below: http://www.thegametutor.co.uk/videos/literal-first-play/150917_driveby-gangster-literal-first-play
Not the best game, mostly because of its slow pace. But, it is fun when you actually play, only problem is that there isnt ALOT of gametime. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nym9UNrSQw
Find your true calling with Driveby Gangster and clean up the streets one driveby at a time. Eliminate your enemys as the Tommy Gun burns one bullet or one hundred theres plenty of bodies to riddle with lead and take back your town. Unmatched Driveby experience rivaling that of GTA.
fun
I don't think Drive By gangster is a good as other players are suggesting it is. I personally found it clunky to play, with some of the NPC's being impervious to bullets, whilst thoes other NPC fell to the ground. Overall the timings of the the game are really off the mark, to the point where the example screen grabs in the store front, are not a fair example of the real game play experiance. In my case, if I didn't hold down the D key too speed up the car. The NPC's would kill my charictor before the window of opertunity too shoot the target, became available. This is nothing more than a poor quality duck hunt game, that is packaged with a morral blurb that seems like an after thought given what the game is about. I won't be playing this again as it's just a slow paced game, with a lot of bugs in the game. This should be a 99¢ game and not £2.79.
FUN GAME INDEED Driveby Gangster took us back in time to another era of game-play. We are not ones who have the time to play epic, long term games which literally take over your life. We came through the old way of Mario Brothers and Pack Man, when they first arrived. We are from the beginning of the Internet! These were just after the days of the video arcade when the guns were not digital, but made of metal. Do not ask our ages. What impresses us most about this game is the mood it sets, with a Film Noir flavor both in graphics and music. Terri especially liked the artwork in the city when she arrived to the cafe at night, reminiscent of 'Nighthawks' by the artist Edward Hopper. We enjoyed that each level is presented as a day in time, though short, this is unique as part of a whole month of days on the calendar. This is how the game's creator has chosen to challenge us. The game play is simple, and only needs a mouse. Driveby Gangster provides hours of entertainm...
