Lords of the Realm 2 is a medieval, turn-based strategy game with real-time combat. The general premise of the game is to successfully balance the needs of your people with military preparations to protect and expand your kingdom.
Pros/Cons
Pros: The game came out in 1996 so the graphics are noticeably dated but nonetheless, it still looks good for its age. I have put 75 hours into the Steam version of this game so far, playing every map available, and I have yet to encounter a bug. Other reviews claim to have experienced problems running the game, but it has functioned perfectly for me using the latest 2024 PC software and hardware. The music, sound effects, and voice acting is limited but are done extremely well. Even after 28 years, hearing the words, "yes m'lord" still brings a smile to my face. Conquering a map takes just long enough to feel satisfying without dragging on. It is an easy to learn game which makes it accessible to all types of players. Cons: Unfortun...
Probably one of my favorite games of all time. Sure, the graphics and game play aren't up to date. But regardless its just unbridled fun that you can't get anymore.
"Slaughter These Villagers?" Do you even have to ask?
Lords of the Realm II, a classic 1996 strategy game, masterfully blends turn-based empire management with real-time combat. Players are tasked with conquering medieval England by carefully managing their county's economy, food production, and army recruitment across a turn-based, seasonal system. When war breaks out, the game transitions to real-time battles where you can command your units during field combat or dramatic castle sieges. While the AI may be simple by today's standards, the game's unique mix of strategic depth and tactical action, combined with a charming medieval atmosphere, makes it a timeless and essential title for fans of the genre.
Very old game. It's immediately obvious when you realize that the entire game only uses the mouse as an input method, the keyboard is only used for typing your player name and composing colorful insults to an AI opponent. Despite how dated it is, the interaction between economic management, army management and army combat is very compelling.
This is a classic to me (1996), one of the first games I really got into back when you had to to DOS. Its simple but I still feel entertained im glad it made it to Steam.
basic but fun. townsfolk morale, natural disasters and basic battles.
It is just one of the best most enjoyable games out there. Its not to complex but has enough detail to satisfy your strategic and tactical requirements.
A classic
