For a game named "grip", there's surprizingly little of it. The vehicles understeer like crazy, the brakes seemingly do nothing, and a lot of the gimmicks are completely irrelevant, such as jumping. Vehicular combat feels pointless, the weapons aim wherever they please. Play one round of "death match" and you'll see what I mean. But the worst offender by far is the track design. Tracks are not "legible" in the sense that you can read them as you drive. You have to know in advance that after this wall will be a sharp left turn and you need to brake for it well in advance. I've played the game for 90 minutes now, and it's just been so...frustrating.

User Reviews
Probably my favorite racing game as of right now. The learning curve is rather steep but I think the racing would be a lot less intense if you weren't constantly at risk of hitting something and going to space. Soundtrack's really good, neurofunk drum & bass fits the racing, combat and setting all at the same time. For proper online racing you're gonna have to join the official GRIP discord server, but other than that the online experience is very good.
Games like this is when I really would prefer a way to provide a more neutral rating. This is a quality game, but there's a few things that prevents me from being able to recommend it. The vehicles are fast, as you'd expect them to be for this type of racer but seems to control well enough (while grounded) The soundtrack is good, although not that memorable and gets repetitive but this is perhaps a preference thing so I'm not going to hold it against the game. There's a variety of vehicles to choose from and each, as far as I can tell, also has a "airblade" variant for those who wants more of a anti gravity vehicle. Now for the problems: • During the campaign, simply doing one race than the others later isnt an option as it doesn't save unless all are finished in one go. Fortunately there's usually only 2-3 races during each section so this isn't a big problem but it is a little annoying. • There's no way to directly compare vehicles, can only scroll through them. • Weap...
Bad support of 2 controllers. Painfull to play in split screen mod
Its not what I'm looking for in a game. Similar to redout, has all the writings of a great game but the execution is simply boring. Made it all the way to tier 3 and the AI was barely scratching me at all.. races felt short and too easy. Requested refund.
Gripping
Great game worth the money hours of fun
Tweak it to get the graphics and performance where its needed, but has become my 2nd favourite VR racing game. Great game
Grip: Combat Racing is a spiritual successor to Wipeout and a successor to Rollcage, it's a game about going fast. that's it, that's the gameplay, it's a racing game, where you go fast. Unfortunately the track design is too convoluted / confusing, often with protruding elements and clunky geometry that can cost you the race. The few tracks that are less randomly put together makes the game shine, and lets you go blindingly fast, without too much worry you'll hit the tiny edge of some protruding piece of geometry, or go flying off the track because you missed a not obvious ramp. Grip is a game you can play for a while, put it down, and come back later, and play sporadically in shorter bursts. It's not really a game that you playe for long hour sessions, it doesn't have that kind of sustainability. There's a increasingly difficult campaign move you can play, with gradual unlocks of different cars. It's fun in short bursts. Pick it up on a sale.
This game is broken. Apparently I have to remove all my controllers before it might work. Its impossible to get it to work with settings, I would have had to use some kernel level device filtering to maybe get this to work, without having to disassemble my whole setup every time. Waste of money.
