Pure over-the-top carnage for old-school shooter enjoyers. An insanely fun arsenal, nice physics, plenty of gore, good level design and some pretty cool boss fights. Amazing!

About This Game
Gothic Story, Frantic Gameplay. Painkiller is a first-person horror shooter, designed to satisfy a gamer's hunger for intense, fast-paced action. It's an adrenaline addict's nightmare, where hellish monsters swarm in seemingly endless mobs.
Graphically, Painkiller is unmatched. The proprietary PAIN Engine puts out an unbelievably high polygon count, while adding increased texture quality and the latest lighting and shadowing techniques, including soft shadows, DOT3 bump mapping, water reflections, glass simulation, volumetric light and fog, and more. Plug in the Havok 2.0 physics engine, and you get a realistic environment in a totally fantastical setting.
Stranded in a place between Heaven and Hell, your time of judgment is at hand. The Underworld is on the verge of unholy war, and you are but a pawn in the infernal battle. As you fight for your purification, the truths behind the deceptions are revealed.

User Reviews
It did age with some troubles but it still is a fun game. Plot is fun enough though a bit on the nose sometimes.
still the best physics fps, staking enemies to the wall was never better keep in mind, it is not super stable. deserves a 1 on 1 remake. if you're lucky its stable enough to still have a lot of fun :D - for me 4k didnt work so playing on full hd, still worth it :D
A fun Serious Sam like Arena Shooter with a dark twist. The games story a is good excuse for the action but isn't something that you'll be caring about too much. The weapons are all fun to use (The Stake Gun being my personal favourite) all of which have secondary fire modes giving them a double use in combat. Level and enemy design are amazing as pretty much every level is unique from the last and each introduce new enemy types to compliment the levels theme. Boss battles are decent and tend to have some sort of puzzle to figure out in order to beat them. The Battle Out of Hell expansion is also included and adds 10 more levels and 2 additional weapons for more Painkilling action!
cool classic
good game
