DISTRAINT: Deluxe Edition

Distraint is 2D, pixel art, psychological thriller game about guilt, consciousness and regret. It also explores — little to the face of the player in my taste — consequences of greed and selling souls to corporations. And, yeah, I guess? Greed is bad. Those who understand this, don’t need to be educated about it. Those who embrace it, don't care and will not change their behaviour. You don’t need to have a big brain to understand it. Thankfully, instead of preaching, the game tries to tell something about the mental state of the person who experiences immense psychological pressure due to acting against their consciousness and beliefs. There is no redemption, no good ending, no “well done, you won”. Yeah, this game was done by Scandinavians. The game tries to be unsettling and spooky sometimes, but it is a little above mediocre in this department. Came to this game after reading some reviews under "Don't escape: 4 days in a wasteland" and "If on a winter's night four travellers", which are my favourite point and click games so far. Coming from those games i really expected too too much, searching for those same emotions i felt during those. Which of course, its the wrong thing to do. Its scarier than them, the ambience is done better and its surely got a simpler story to understand but still deep enough which is the main thing i wanted. The only things i didnt like tbh are the fact that it feels made for ultra wide monitors, which felt strange when playing it and also didnt fully understand the wake up call he had... It really changed him. i felt it a bit forced, maybe unnatural, but it just may be on my end. Maybe it wasnt a great time for me to play it, sadly it happens. Would i say it's the best i've played? Unfortunately not. But would i say its not valid for its price, especially when its discounted? Absolutely not. Try it,...
