About This Game

Squad is the embodiment of tactical military action. Compete in massive-scale 50 vs. 50 battles in the most realistic combined-arms first-person shooter. Squad emphasizes combat realism through teamwork, tactics, and authentic warfare. A wide selection of realistic faction-specific weapons and vehicles allow players to build their own loadouts that best suit their preferred tactics. And with Squad’s unique Picture-in-Picture scopes, it’s like you’re really aiming at the enemy through real military-issue scopes.

Featuring 13 factions, 24 massive maps, and a sweeping arsenal of weapons and vehicles, Squad creates a heart-thumping, visceral shooter experience that requires split-second decision-making in intense, realistic firefights.

Massive 50 vs. 50 Battles

Squad creates authentic combat experiences while pitting conventional and unconventional factions against each other. As part of a 50 person team, join a nine-person squad to face off against opposing factions in intense combat across large real-world environments. Squad features 13 factions from all over the world, including the United States Marine Corps, Australian Defence Force, and Canadian Army among many others.

Ultra-Realistic Infantry Combat

Squad’s combat was designed to provide the most fun, immersive, and authentic infantry experience possible. With Squad’s core tenets of teamwork and tactics, you’ll have to work together to outmaneuver your enemies with realistic Picture-in-Picture scopes and Squad’s unique Suppression system. Work with your squad to overwhelm the enemy and snatch victory from the jaws of defeat!

Building & Logistics System

Adapt to the ever-changing needs of the battlefield. By building fortifications and emplacements or supplying your team with ammunition and materials, you can give your squad the edge. Whether it’s placing HMGs and AT guns or fortifying a position with sandbags, razor wire, and some much-needed ammo, the battlefield is yours to change, if you have the courage to do so.

Communication

Solid communication is a soldier's best friend when engaging the enemy. To help facilitate navigating the complexity of communication on the battlefield, Squad provides a world-class in-game VoIP system that allows players to talk to other soldiers locally, in-squad, between squad leaders, or even to the overall team commander. Map tools and in-world markers aid fire team leads and squad leaders to inform their soldiers of on-the-fly engagement tactics.

You haven’t truly known fear until you hear a BTR rolling toward you… and you’re out of LAT. You haven’t known brotherhood until eight strangers crawl through the mud under gunfire just to get you back on your feet. Squad isn’t about winning. It’s about suffering together — like men. The game doesn’t hold your hand. It puts a shovel in it, points at the dirt, and says: “Start digging.” During the war in Ukraine, I experienced real fear. The kind that stays in your bones. And somehow, Squad helped me face that — not by glorifying combat, but by simulating the chaos, the pressure, the radio static, and the unpredictability of it all. It didn’t numb me. It made me feel less alone. It helped me process. Through it all — medics risking everything, chaotic firefights, desperate FOB holds — I found a strange kind of comfort in the voices of complete strangers who had my back. Squad isn’t just a game. It’s a reminder that even in the worst moments — some...

A good game mired by sweaty tryhards that curse you out if you don't play to their rigid standards. Shame to see.

Most likely one of the best shooters out there. It is the mid point between battlefield and Arma. It is not arcade but at the same time it is not too slow for my liking. It is a deep tactical game where coop is a must. Players are expected to fit into squads and follow the squad leader's orders, who is in contact with all other squads to achieve the set objectives. Use of the microphone is key and expected, as well as heavy usage of the map. Communication is, in summary, paramount. It is unlike any other game I've played in this regard, and at such a scale. Gameplay is quite unique due to this, both being infantry and vehicle crewman is fun if you play with friends. It tries to be quite realistic, and it does well in this regard. There are some roles I don't like that much, like mortars and logistics, since they are quite boring. Playing frontline infantry, spec-ops and vehicles is where I have the most fun, since it brings you closer to the action.Give it a try if you have friends to ...

on 2 accounts i have roughly 5000 hours, and the false promises and lack of QUALITY content updates has finally broke me, AND now you have hackers screwing with the server browser to send a message that most of the community is wanting. AND THEY STILL HAVENT FIXED IT 3 DAYS LATER... Optimization updates, more frequent updates and content, there has been an audio bug in the game for nearly 3 years and they STILL wont fix it. they are killing there own game, it has so much potential but they neglect it. Squad is OWI's bread and butter and they are killing it. you have to have 4 sales in like 9 months to bring a population back. get a grip and fix your game.

This is a great game when you can get a good, coordinated, squad together to play with. The majority of players have and use comms. It can take a good amount of time to catch on to the lingo and learn how to use the maps and other functions of the game. I recommend playing as a rifleman or a medic to start off to learn the basics.

This is hands down the worst shooter I have ever played. My M4 must weigh 400lbs and shoot 7.62, because the soldiers this game must be based on cant even hold their own heads upright. Out of my thousands of hours of mil-sims and shooters this game disgrace to mil-sims everywhere.

Disappointed in squad, after witnessing a protest on the server browser that was hijacked by an anonymous individual, i will say one thing.. they aren't wrong, squad used to be fun but now its just become a money grab. I'm disappointed in how slow they are in response to the protest and figuring out a fix to the issue, i can't even enjoy the game. I would blame the hijacker for not allowing me to have fun, but in some sense they are actually right by their protest. I was pretty blind to how pathetic the developers are in terms of caring about the community, squad is fun but to be honest i've just kind of lost interest because of the lack of content over the 10 years... it's actually quite disappointing to see how a game had so much potential has lost a lot of it? i want my money back, i want my time back, what a waste of a community and how pathetic. The person who has hijacked the server browser has brought up significant issues which were blind, their protest is rig...

Immersive war game where people generally use their mics and work with the squad ( as they should). Slower & with larger maps than Squad 44. Spend a lot of time in scopes to find and fight enemies. Well detailed mechanics for the battlefield, plenty of factions, weapons and vehicles Suppression is Life

Do not buy in its current state. Hackers have taken over the servers/server browser and OWI has still not fixed this critical issue after two days. I Highly recommend staying clear of buying this game until they are able to 100% prove their game/servers are secure from threat of hackers. I put this negative review up not because the game itself is bad but to warn buyers of the risk. Do your research before buying, if they fix the issue and secure their servers I would change my recommendation to positive.

Far better then Arma Reforger from the looks of things, and kinda prefer pvp over pve if the AI is dog water at being smart without a game master.
