About This Game

Sunday League Manager

Welcome to the Beautiful Game's Ugly Cousin

Forget the glitz and glamour of the Premier League. This is football management where the pitch is more mud than grass, the changing rooms smell of Deep Heat and regret, and your star striker might call in sick because his back's playing up again.

Take charge of Horse & Spoon FC, a once-proud pub team that's seen better decades. These days, their trophy cabinet holds more cobwebs than silverware, and their last "big signing" was Dave from the chip shop who reckons he's still got it (spoiler: he doesn't).

From the Local Park to Glory

Start at the bottom of Bannockshire's footballing food chain, where the ref's your mate's dad and the corner flags are traffic cones. Work your way up through the leagues, one questionable tackle and dubious offside call at a time.

Your mission? Restore Horse & Spoon to their former glory - or at least get them playing somewhere with actual goalposts instead of jumpers.

Your Squad of Legends (In Their Own Minds)

Recruit and manage a team of weekend warriors:

  • Veteran plumbers who treat every match like a cup final (and every pint like a celebration)

  • Young sparkies with pace to burn and two left feet

  • Aging shop attendants whose best years were during the last World Cup... the one before this one

  • Part-time postmen who know every shortcut on the pitch

  • Semi-retired builders whose idea of tactics is "get stuck in, lads"

More Than Just Football

When you're not shouting at Derek to track back, unwind with:

  • Poker nights at the pub - win big or lose your budget for next season's kit

  • Horse racing - because every good football manager needs a flutter

  • Player development - turn that promising young lad into the next local legend

  • Squad building - blend youth and experience, or just whoever shows up on Sunday morning

Feature

✓ Authentic Sunday League atmosphere complete with missed sitters and questionable refs!

✓ Regional Cup competition for your shot at proper silverware (and bragging rights down the pub)

✓ Player personalities from the reliable club stalwart to the prima donna who thinks he's Messi

✓ Pub-based team get-togethers where you can recruit new players, rinse your current players at poker or relax and recuperate with the lads.

The Beautiful Game, But Beauty is in the Eye of the Beholder

Experience football management as it really is for 99% of the country - muddy, chaotic, and absolutely brilliant. Where winning promotion means moving from the local park to an actual pitch, and your biggest transfer coup is convincing Big Tony to come out of retirement.

Can you guide Horse & Spoon FC back to the top of Bannockshire football? Or will you be just another gaffer who promised the earth and delivered a few Sunday morning defeats?

There's only one way to find out. The lads are waiting, the boots are in the car, and someone's already put a round in. Come on then, Gaffer - let's show 'em what Horse & Spoon is really made of.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A sense of humour about grassroots football

  • Tolerance for questionable haircuts and even more questionable tackles

  • Basic understanding that "hoofing it to the big lad" is a legitimate tactic

This is an innovative concept that redefines, at least conceptually, the soccer management games we're used to. The idea of coaching a group of ordinary people who have ordinary jobs, to compete in a regional tournament is, in my opinion, brilliant. The managerial aspect isn't as deep as in other similar titles, but that doesn't make it any less fun. We can decide whether to train players as a group or individually, or go for a drink at the pub to increase team's bonding. Then there's also the micromanagement of finances (to which we can even contribute with our own salary, lol), negotiations with sponsors, developing of training facilities, and much more. The tactical aspect is pretty basic and it is limited to choosing from 6 preset formations. In addition to that there are sideline instructions such as "push up", "defend" and "waste time", which are pretty straight forward. The game engine is event-based (text + a static dot indicating the player in possession). Overall, it's...

Played just under an hour of this and im so hooked. Its not like your FM games, its simple, easy to play, fun, and with pub teams, players with regular jobs. Its such a good game and an absolute bargain at £1.25

It's early days for this game , but it already has the basis for great pick up and play game. No longer will I be trawling the transfer market for the the CB i desperately need. He's in the pub playing with my hamster already! The game is very much a work in progress, but is quite playable and is constantly updated at them moment. Worth a punt.
