Yes, this was originally a Geometry Dash level. It was great there. It's great here too. It's not a strict port, for the record - there's more to this standalone release. Worth the dollar. About 1-2 hours to complete, but plenty of collectibles and secrets for additional fun. The abilities and controls work well and the game world is designed to exploit them, so do! It resets quickly when you die, which takes the edge off of platforming mistakes. It picked up my PS4 controller just fine, though only if I used the controller first. The inspirational games are clearly on display here, and it does a good job of adding secrets without making them too annoying to find (though, as of writing this, I don't yet have 100%). Keep an eye for little details that seem out of place. There are a few bits that fall into "idk just roam the map until you find it," but it's not as egregious as Animal Well. Smaller map helps, too. Also shoutout to music guy. Good tunes and good recommendation ;) Updat...

A short but sweet Metroidvania and probably the most bang for the buck I've ever gotten from a Steam game. The graphics style is basic pixel art but the game actually looks quite nice in all of its simplicity. It also helps with gameplay as the screen never feels cluttered. The soundtrack is catchy and relaxing with a fitting switch up to more intense tunes for the boss battles. Gameplay focuses heavily on platforming and exploration with all abilities you find being traversal in nature. Controls and gameplay mechanics are very tight which helps ease frustration as you navigate the quite often tricky platforming sections throughout the map. I never felt that the game was at fault whenever I died and that kept me motivated to overcome any challenge I encountered. As mentioned Quarion is leaning heavily towards platforming and combat is pretty much non-existant with the exception of a situational Mario-style stomp. I never missed it though as the other aspects of the game kept me occu...
Glad to see this turned into a full game!!! Quarion was already my most favourite platformer level in Geometry Dash and seeing it use its full potential here is surreal to see!!
While being a short game, it makes up for a cool experience to those who are into platformers. It contains sections that require precise inputs, as well as short boss fights and a lot of hidden stuff across the whole area, making it very interesting (and sometimes challenging) to play. This game has its origin as a Geometry Dash platformer level (which came out last year as of writing this), but this new release polishes a lot of aspects present in that version and expands upon those, with slight reworking in some areas, polish of interfaces and visuals and a new soundtrack. This, and all the new additional content and secrets make this version much better than the previous. If you enjoyed the GD version or simply want a cool Metroidvania title to play, I highly suggest to give this game a try!
If you're looking for a short little metroidvania that you can finish in an hour or two, there's no reason not to play this one. The overall gameplay experience is quite similar to You Have To Win The Game, but with some neat boss fights as well as secrets, interesting gimmicks, and optional challenges. The movement feels great and there were some really great room designs throughout :) My only nitpick is that some of the secrets (specifically the amulet-related ones) were pretty difficult to find - it would have been nice to know the general area to search so you don't have to do laps around the entire map looking for tiny cracks. Certain bosses were also quite challenging, and with bad RNG you could easily be forced to take damage.
havent finished it yet, but its a neat and very fun little metroidvania - though i find it a bit hard to find where to go in some places but maybe thats just me being quote-unquote "zoomerbrained" and "journalistpilled" as one of my friends has said
mythic (all the gd players put your hands up)
Very fun game. Tight platforming. Moderately difficult bosses. Short and sweet with additional content for completionists. I enjoyed fighting the final boss, it really challenged you to utilize your acquired movement abilities.
Crazy how this started in GD
A great short and challenging game that began its roots as a Geometry Dash platformer mode level, now expanded on a proper game engine with much more to discover and more polish. The price is surprisingly lenient, but appreciated nonetheless. If you like VVVVVV and games alike, give it a try :)
