About This Game

Join our human adventurer on an adventure! Is this adventurer even a hero? Is he even actually an adventurer? Who cares? Not the Crafting Goddess Joann, apparently! All she wants is a slave to make crap for her, and that slave appears to be this poor soul. I guess now that he's been chosen by a trans-dimensional entity to do some kind of bidding he doesn't really have a choice of sorts.

At least there's some fun to be had as he traverses the dungeons generated from your old high-school reports and questionable images.

Wait a second, did I just say old high-school reports?! They have value now?
You sure bet!

You'll have to delve deep into your hard drive's dungeons to create the list of items the goddess has bestowed upon you to create. All the dungeons are randomly generated from the files that you select on your hard drive, with bigger files creating bigger dungeons, and different file types designating different kinds of loot you can find. Items, craftables, and monsters all have generated names with randomly selected adjectives attached. Even the requirements to make the crafted items are random!
Use every menu and tool at your disposal to collect items and serve the goddess

Features

  • Randomly generated dungeons based on your files
  • Randomly generated items
  • BOSS FIGHTS
  • An unpredictable play time
  • Being able to play with one hand with a beer in the other
  • Multiple ways to reach your goal
  • Hand drawn pixel art made with love and care

Disclaimer

C:\ aft is a very text heavy, no hold hands kind of game made by a fan of old roguelikes for other fans. Things are explained within dialog, tooltips, and in-game manuals. It is expected that players will at some point in time need to read the manuals to understand more complex mechanics so they may unlock new parts of the game. Still, it is an easily accessible and expansive experience, but it may not be the most welcoming to players new to the rogue genre. Within minutes you can already be collecting tons of loot, exploring your hard drive, and of course dying. The game features practically no story, but many ways to play, and its crafting experience is no more than a glorified fetch quest. There's plenty to sink time into, and its accessibility emphasizes an ability to play quickly, such as during a coffee break.

StoryMode - A game about crashing I went into this game with high hopes. The user interface is clunky and the polar opposite of intuitive. The game tells you to press A, B, or C to do something. I get this is a reference to the actual control, and the game tells you the controls can be rebound at any time. What it doesnt tell you is what the controls are currently bound to so you have to go fishing in settings to even see that button A starts bound to the E key. Would it have been too difficult to add "Press A (Currently bound to: E)" in the tutorial? Like I said, polar opposite of intuitive. That alone would be a mild irritation and not worth a negative review. But then you start discovering that half the time the controls either dont even register, or do not behave as advertised. There is no "back" button, so for instance when you mistakenly press Q to summon the goddess to aid you in a dungeon, you cannot simply cancel the request, you have to click around randomly in the hopes th...

Impromptu review This review will develop alongside the game changes. 18/01/2016 pro: +funny names for monsters & items +find keys, nonetheless bash through doors not quite a con but could be considered as an issue: -When you attack the action is described as 'Adventurer attacked you for n damage'. cons: -the action button is not clear, nor the other two buttons. -crashes when I try to select the party menu -random crashes

Pretty fun game. Although it crashes from time to time, it is clever and stupidly fun. 8/10

Enter the world of C:\ aft a 1bit roguelike, a simple yet dificult game. Simply put if you played a game like downwell or undertale and you liked the dialogue and humor feel of the game you're going to like this game. This is not a game for everyone BUT it is a really fun and cool grindy game for people like me who have an overwhelming love for the jrpg and rpg genres. GIVEN YOU READ THE INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED IN THE GAME BY THE DEVELOPER, this game should be fairly simple to navigate while using your arrow keys as well as Enter, Back Slash (\), And Delete as A B and C buttons. A and B work exactly how they would on a standard gamepad A is accept and B is back and C is to activate other things and go up stairs and stuff it's really not that hard to figure out. the main problem with this game is that it doesn't cater to dorito dust snorting CSGO players or your classic TF2 or Gary's mod players it's a weird game with a really cool idea most people just don't read how to play the game...

This looked interesting, but trying to play it got me locked into menus and no input was able to get me out. Don't think there was any testing done but this looked good

I truly want to enjoy this game, but the lack of guidance is concerning. As this is an early access game, it is understandable if a lot of the features or the UI is incomplete, but there is a lot of things that is missing from the game to actually guide the player. Now, I am not asking for the game to become a linear, hand holding game that it will never be. It's not in the style of the game, but the game itself doesn't provide any assistance with complex actions such as quests and crafting. It would be more likely that I end up never completing a quest or crafting an item. After writing this review, I found that the game has changed a lot. I suggest that anyone that want to see this game progress should invest the money into the game. It is humorous and does its job of being a rogue-like game.

Doesn't feel like I progress very well and far in the game and wish there were more options with leveling and progressing the character. A tiny fan of it if it could improve in some way.
