Unfortunately, despite really really REALLY wanting to recommend Celestial Tear ep 1, after my ten hours of play I can't do it. Pros: +Excellent comic-style line art +Decent production values - original graphics, sound, music, voice acting +Mostly original combat system that takes inspiration from Xenogears, Legend of Dragoon, and others +Loads of not-terrible writing in form of dialogue and journal entries +Indie JRPG on Steam +Female protagonist (sorta) Cons: (As disclaimer, most cons are related to using the RPG Maker engine) -Low resolution, no graphics scaler options. This makes the game look very grainy and pixelated, despite the art being technically sound. -Hiccups. Constant hiccups. The longer I play the game, the more frequent and annoying they get. After several hours, don't be suprised if your screen pauses for nearly an entire second every 4-5 seconds. -Framerate issues. Only one or two maps are designed to allot for full framerate in the RPG Maker engine. -Bugs. Despite...

Game is all good and nice, but I had few problem. -FPS issues -Bugs such as --selecting inventory that didn't let me in --drowning bar is still on when I got out of the water the main problem is the FPS, you just play the game for a good 20 minutes, BOOM huge lag, huge fps drop. impossible to play it. Would love to continue but a little bit upgrade and fix would be helpful.

In spite of its solid art, interesting story, and music that's decent, the technical and balance issues in the current version of the game are simply too glaring. Fou-Lu's review goes into the balance issues in sufficient detail so I won't repeat those here. As Fjorn's review indicated, the FPS problem is absolutely atrocious - it's truly the #1 game breaker. In the final sequence of battles at the end of what content is availble as of 2018/02/21, the FPS plummeted before I could finish the last fight. As a result, it took something like 45 minutes to finish a fight that should have been done in 5 simply because I had to wait for the characters to sloooooowly "run" across the screen and then slooooowly make their attacks. Even selecting from the menu becomes tediously slow. I ended up doing: "fight a couple enemies, walk back to nearest save point, save, and immediately reboot" and then "finally find a new save point, save, and immediately reboot". I was rebooting the game every...

A Brilliant RPG maker game BUT! Extremly buggy, with Frame rate lag that simply makes the game unplayable. If you could save in the field and load the game it would be something you could tolerate but since you need to find save points and the bug can happen just about anywhere and randomly it kills the game..... which is very sad, it is well written, with an awesome combat system reminding me of the Xenogears from PSone and a mana system similar to Suikoden, which is in short a brilliant combo..... it is sad to see a well written story getting killed by bugs... so sad... so sad. If you are perhaps one of the people that can suffer through the frame rate lag or someone that knows how to edit or use speed up hacks you might be able to work around the bugs, and then you might actually enjoy the title. Why the developers simply didnt make it possible to save/load where ever to work around the frame rate bug is beyond me. oh well, regardless do not buy it unless you can work around the...
