About This Game

SHIATH (Something horrible is about to happen) is a short (less than an hour long) horror game about the end of humankind and self-made doom.

Features

  • Clay pigeon shooting. To survive, you'll need to take as much as you can from the sea below. Remember that not everything that surfaces is what it seems to be.

  • The brink. A surreal vision of a dying world. Enjoy your stay on the last patch of land that exist. It won't be long before it's gone.

  • The dog. Your only companion in this journey. Hopefully, you'll take good care of him.

  • A cast of miserable and spiteful characters. Meet others like you, and others who’ve been made the way they are because of people like you.

  • No happy ending. This story does not have a happy ending. Try all you want. Something horrible is about to happen.

DISCLAIMER: I liked the game. It is a short game about the end of a world. It's left ambiguous whether it is the actual world or the interior world of the main character that is dying. While the game relies on abundant text to convey the themes and the narrative, it is at its core a shooter combined with a fishing game: you shoot the things you want to fish. Very simple, very satisfying. Mind you, this is not a streamer horror, even though it offers intense moments. This game is not scary; it's disturbing on every level. The game is also very inspired both visually and narratively. The location is really well built, evocative, imaginative. The way the dev used low-low poly elevated the atmosphere. Indeed the game is very atmospheric. Very very very atmospheric. I could feel things just by being there. The writing is poignant even though it remains intentionally vague. I think the dev has something to say, and I will wait for its next game, hoping it will come out soon.

A brief but solid horror experience, I really liked the mood and overall aesthetic. The jump scares are well done and not so frequent that they become predictable. And who doesn't want to fish with a shotgun?

It's the first game from a lone developer: it's a rather short game, but it's very intense in the message it brings (if one is willing to understand). The writing is on point and really takes the dread you feel while playing to the next level.

A great short horror experience that digs into human nature and greed. What really stands out here is the writing, rarely do you see storytelling this sharp and compelling in any game. It’s abstract and unsettling: the themes are clear, but much is left open to interpretation, which keeps it lingering in your head. The atmosphere is fantastic too, simply existing in this world feels eerie, uncomfortable, and wrong in the best way. Great recommendation if you're looking for one-sitting existential dread.

A short game that gives you one hour of gameplay and several nights of dreaded selfreflection about your life choices. Impressive writing and just the right atmosphere. Doggo is king.

Great short horror game about the last human on earth and their guilt. We could've stopped, but never did. Very well written and thoughtful, fishing with a gun is very fun. Recommended.

I really enjoyed this game! I love how the visuals, audio, and text genuinely make you feel the protagonist’s unease, while also giving you something to reflect on about yourself. I’m not particularly into horror, but I think this one combines indie horror with a strong introspective narrative that, while making you think about the characters’ words, also catches you off guard — and scares the hell out of you.
