About This Game

Originally released in 2005, Dragonshard returns in a respectful re‑release that quietly modernises the classic: modern‑resolution support, localisation‑friendly saves and profiles, smoother timers and physics, ASLR compatibility, and other under‑the‑hood fixes for a cleaner experience on today’s PCs.

Dragonshard™ is a real-time strategy experience based in the mystical world of Eberron, the acclaimed DUNGEONS & DRAGONS® realm. Within this wholly imaginative setting lives an inventive gameplay fusion: dramatic RTS play is affected by the risks and rewards of a thrilling RPG-styled underworld. As players direct troops over the land, they also plunge smaller, hero-led parties below ground to an RPG-modeled world of beasts, battles and bounty. Experience and items gained in this underworld result in great powers and abilities above ground. Using magic, weaponry and skilled maneuvers, players command armies from varying races to control, protect - or destroy - the powerful Heart of Siberys. Obtaining this omnipotent artifact will unleash its full forces, good or evil, upon the entire world.

  • The first DUNGEONS & DRAGONS® Real-Time Strategy Experience

  • DUNGEONS & DRAGONS® game from the Eberron campaign setting

  • Game design with two levels of interconnected action: RTS war above ground and critical RPG-styled battles in dungeons below

  • Four ranges of controllable units: powerful champions, heroic captains, trainable henchmen, and nearly unstoppable battlefield juggernauts

  • Unit development based on 'Experience Points', allowing players to "level up" units - an added RPG twist to the classic RTS gameplay structure

  • An innovative village grid system - the "Nexus System" - where choice and placement of buildings can specifically affect units' powers

  • Three warring factions, each with its own history, campaigns, unique strengths... and weaknesses.

  • Game story by Eberron creator Keith Baker

  •  A variety of threatening environments, all with the "Hyper Terrain" feature, creating real-time terrain deformation in the wake of unit movements

Don't look at my current playtime, I've spent on DragonShard more time in the past than I should. TLDR: Port/Remaster is 1:1 original version with less headache launching it and better resolution. Unless I installed some chinese spyware with it, then Xi Jinping will harvest 50gb's of hentai. "You are as beautiful as the day I lost you." It was my first "Strategy" game that I got in the box, used to play on white pc and display with giant booty. Used to play it with my mom and change seat each mission. Great memories. Will buy this version for her birthday, as she also uses Steam for old RTS games. Loved everything about it, units, their banter, campaigns, style of combat and building, it was perfect. For new players: Think about it more like Warcraft, less than Age of Empires. You get your 3, global resources: Shards, Gold and Experience, all of which are technically infinite. You get shards from storms that literally fall from sky, gold from passive income as well as undergroun...

The graphics were constantly a problem. A game shouldn't market itself as a modernized version if you need to perform significant modifications to use it.

You can't actually see the edges of the map because this version cuts them off from the camera for some reason

really enjoy this game. I had it long ago when it first came out. My disc from the past was damaged. I was really glad that Steam made it available!

Отличный такой blast from the past.

Finally brought forth with modern resolutions and still somewhat retarded AI, Dragonshard is a great RTS. Reccommended for fans of BFME1 and micromanagement RTS fans. Your soldiers aren't an army, they are a party of heroes and you must treat them as such. Losing a troop is costly and getting gold is perhaps the biggest pain of all. If I were to rebalance the game I would cut all unit costs to a tenth of their cost, but as it stands the game contradicts itself sometimes (you need several of the same unit to upgrade it beyond level 2, but you can't really take advantage of combining different skills if you all your units are the same, and this makes healers really not worth upgrading), but it has charming visuals, an interesting Eberron story, great soundtrack and very fun details. Easy reccommend.

When you activate steam overlay it makes the game become unplayable until you tab in and out of the game. This makes it really annoying since there is no windowed/borderless mode. It's also advertised as a remaster but it's not, it's a copy and paste of the old game. In general there are no other downsides so if that doesn't bother you I'd say go ahead and buy it.
