I honestly can't believe this game recently got added to Steam if the release date with it is true. But I remember this game, liking it as a kid and it always gave me Lord of the Rings vibes, like how one remembers the old Two Towers game and Return of the King, and this games music is just epic. So far this game plays great on my Steam Deck. Thank you whoever decided to bring this back.

Was trying to remember this game for 17 years. And finally by sheer coincidence I stumbled upon it here. Man, it's so satisfying.
It's a hack and slash action game - similar to The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (made by the same studio) - this one having a bit more to unlock for characters, as instead of just getting different attacks you can also get armor and weapon unlocks that show up on characters. For such an old game it still looks neat, also having nice soundtrack and voice acting that even includes some well known names like John DiMaggio, Patrick Stewart and the late great Michael Clarke Duncan. Having played for over two hours as of writing this, it works well and I haven't encountered any issues - this Steam release is compatible with Steam Deck while having some quality of life improvements compared to the original release of the game sold at GOG with 56 cents to its price, which is within reason (*if* the changes were even bigger with achievements then it could be more than that). I definitely recommend this to people who want a good little hack and slash action game in a fantasy setting - our s...
I am (currently) the only speedrunner of this game, so I have played Demon Stone more than most. It's alright It doesn't look great and the controls are a little awkward. It's pretty short, even from a casual perspective, but there is little fluff and the levels are unique and generally well-paced. There is a shocking amount of voice talent and the music is really good for this style of game. It's obscure for understandable reasons, but an interesting time capsule. This release is vastly more stable and functional, and the best way to experience a somewhat rough, but unique hidden gem. Also, if you so happen to upload record your gameplay and submit your run to speedrun.com/demonstone you would be super cool.
This is pure nostalgia for the era of tough, atmospheric D&D action games. I played it almost 20 years ago and when I replayed it — I got the same emotions: adrenaline from the fights, excitement after every completed chapter, and the urge to keep going immediately. This game is quite short, playable in one breath in 5–6 hours on the highest difficulty. The story is delivered easily, without clutter, character progression and equipment purchasing simple as possible. The locations are linear — this is not an open world, it’s an adventure, like in the good old hack'n'slashers, but there’s charm in all of it. Switching between characters mid-combat like — warrior fights in melee while you burn everything down from afar as a sorcerer, until the mobs cornered you — and all of this comes with over-the-top drama and light humor, just like in the best D&D traditions. And in the most boring mission, you will play as Drizzt Do'Urden — a real gift for fans. The graphics a...
Please make Sword Coast Legends available on Steam again. I love it when old games get re-released on Steam. Hopefully, Sword Coast Legends, from the creators of Dragon Age: Origins, will come back to Steam as well.
Literally was emulating this a month back on the Deck. Bought it ASAP and enjoying it again. If only I could buy all the games here on Steam and not have to resort to emulation *cough* nintendo *cough*
Can’t believe we used to get bangers like these all the time back in the day.
If you squint really hard this is literally The Two Towers! That's cool! Unfortunately I'm having the same issue a lot of other players seem to be having where this consistently crashes during just the first few minutes rendering this literally unplayable. I hope a fix is found! Edit: Thanks to the developers for the response. I tried the suggested fixes but it only partially solved the problem i.e. it still consistently crashes but now very slightly later in the first level.
Do not buy lots of issues. Runs like sh!t crashes. Chungus controls. 9800x3d 9070xt 32gb ram nvme hdd pissed away to much money on rgb flashing lights
