Background

Year 2352, humanity is exploring the exoplanets for the expansion of its stellar empire. It comes as no surprise that we encounter alien adversaries - some easy to conquer, others far more advanced and harder to subjugate.

To assist in the conquest, a dedicated fleet of fighter drones called Compadrones - or 'compadre' drones were created to serve as the ultimate vanguard of our attack forces.

Compadrone: Land wars is a family friendly top down roguelite arena shooter with elements of tower defense game play in which you play as a drone sent to fight off aliens on an exoplanet.

Gameplay

The objective of the game is to survive against hordes of invading aliens. Use an Xbox controller or mouse to maneuver your drone across an alien landscape while shooting alien warbots, gaining experience and collecting resources and powerups.

The game allows you to choose between 9 different types of drones, and features multiple types of aliens. The weapons on your drone fire automatically when aliens come within their range. As you progress through the game, you gain XP that can be used to unlock more advanced drones.

Enemy attacks come in waves, with each wave lasting between 1 to 3 minutes. At the end of each wave you can use the resources you have collected to unlock better weapons for the next wave.

Additionally, you can use the resources to buy and upgrade defensive towers during a wave. Defensive towers can be placed at strategic locations in the map to power up your fight against the aliens.

Notes

  • The game can be played either with a mouse or an X-box controller. For the best experience we recommend you use an X-box controller.

  • Resource points and XP are earned and spent whilst playing the game. There is no monetary value associated with these. These are merely constructs within the game.

  • There are no in-game purchases in this game.

Good points: 1) The game has a nice pace to it. Doesn't take long to figure out how to play it. 2) I liked that unspent resource points at the end of each wave get carried over to the next wave. 3) The ability to build towers in an arena shooter is definitely interesting and there were times when I had to choose between spending my resource points upgrading weapons or saving them for later to buy towers. 4)I have played this game for several hours and have tried different difficulty settings. I think Easy is a little too easy and lacks challenge. Therefore I would say that at the very minimum this game should be played on medium, 5) I liked that resource points are not lost if your drone gets destroyed. This is really useful in later waves and helps afford better weapons and tower upgrades. Things that could have been better: 1) Should have had more weapons choices 2) Should have had more types of towers. 3) Maybe a tad bit more enemies. All things considered, I think the game repre...

A very enjoyable arena shooter. Whilst you do get to build and upgrade some towers in the game, I would not really call this a tower defense game. Game play is very well paced and at no time becomes overwhelming. There are a bunch of different weapons to choose and try from, the orange ones seem to be the best. The arena itself is not very large and is basically a single desert like landscape with some obstacles thrown in. My wife and kids also enjoyed playing the game. I am happy to recommend this game.

Absolute gem, loved playing it. Happy to recommend. The game mixes arena shooting and tower building. I think that is interesting because it adds an element of strategy. I played the game on medium and found it quite challenging at times. Overall I would say good value for the price.

A fun fast-paces casual arena shooter. I can confirm it works well on Asus Rog Ally in performance mode. Recommended.

Initially I was a little surprised by the short (few minute long) battle waves, but then I got into the flow of the game and found it very enjoyable and ended up playing way more hours than I initially intended :-) This is a game that one can play several times, each time trying a different drone character and strategies. Some drones move faster, some have more weapon slots, some can take more damage. Once you create a game, you get to change the weapons on the drone after each battle, but not the drone itself (at least I could not find any possibility of doing this). The save and load feature is functional, it is a bit difficult to tell games apart, but the saves are ordered chronologically. Loading a saved game starts at the beginning of the wave, but you get to keep your resources, drones, and weapons. This then leads to my one criticism of the game ... we should be allowed to change drones mid way through a game. Even with this minor niggle, it is fun to play and some...

I played this on a steam deck and it works fine. Gameplay is more or less like other arena shooters, with the added ability to make towers in the terrain. First four or five waves were a grind to collect resources and upgrade weapons, but then it got better.

This is a good fast paced shooter game without any learning curve as such. After playing a few waves I created a new game and noticed new drones had been unlocked. I didn't notice it at first but the drones have level requirements and you need to play a few waves to level up and unlock the better ones. The game became much more enjoyable after i switched drones.

This is a good game but one thing that could have made it better is that currently it is only possible to change the weapons on the drone when you win a wave. It should have been possible to change the weapons at any point, or at least when you lose a wave. I enjoyed playing this game for several hours, happy to recommend.

I recommend this game. I played on hard for several hours, and I found it a very enjoyable challenge. In a nutshell, you basically pilot a drone in an arena and need to shoot anything that moves. There are different types of weapons and you can change the weapons after each wave, In addition the developers have added the ability to create gun towers in the arena. I think one thing the developers should do in the future is add more types of towers. There are three types of towers, but they are all basically all gun towers. Other tower types would make the game even more fun. Nevertheless, the game is good value for money and I recommend it.

Hours and hours of fun and endlessly replayable. Really liked the tower and shooter mechanic. But perhaps the one thing I liked above everything else is that you don't lose your RPs when you avatar dies. I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for good and simple fun.
