About the Game

Firewatch is a single-player first-person mystery set in the Wyoming wilderness.

The year is 1989. You are a man named Henry who has retreated from his messy life to work as a fire lookout in the Wyoming wilderness. Perched high atop a mountain, it’s your job to look for smoke and keep the wilderness safe. An especially hot, dry summer has everyone on edge. Your supervisor Delilah is available to you at all times over a small, handheld radio—your only contact with the world you've left behind. But when something strange draws you out of your lookout tower and into the forest, you’ll explore a wild and unknown environment, facing questions and making choices that can build or destroy the only meaningful relationship you have.

A Note: Firewatch is a video game about adults having adult conversations about adult things. If you plan on playing with a younger gamer, that might be good to know going in.

Includes

  • A stunningly beautiful wilderness environment that expands as you explore.
  • A tailor-made story: the choices you make shape the narrative and build relationships.
  • An edge-of-your-seat mystery.
  • Secrets and discoveries to be made over every hill.

Featuring

  • Living, breathing characters brought to life by Cissy Jones (The Walking Dead: Season 1) and Rich Sommer (Mad Men)
  • A spectacular wilderness environment by Olly Moss (Illustrator) and Jane Ng (The Cave, Brutal Legend)
  • A thrilling story and script by Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin (The Walking Dead: Season 1, Poker Night at the Inventory)
  • A stirring original soundtrack by Chris Remo (Gone Home)
  • Fluid first-person animation by James Benson (Ori & The Blind Forest)
  • Gameplay scripting and design work by Patrick Ewing (Twitter) and Nels Anderson (Mark of the Ninja)
  • Programming by Will Armstrong (Bioshock II), Ben Burbank (Costume Quest 2, Space Base DF-9), and Paolo Surricchio (Deadpool, Call of Duty Advanced Warfare)

Okay i really loved so many different aspects of this game, the voice acting, the story, beautiful scenery, the suspense, the story that just keeps you invested for the next twist and the funny little inside jokes you find along the way HOWEVER this incredible suspense the constant feeling that at any corner something or someone is going to jump out at you all goes down the drain because the very thing this story is leading up to NOTHING HAPPENS!! Feels like i just played 3 quarters of a story then the team just decides well i'm done its good enough lets just leave it there. The whole game is filled with these incredible metaphors for life and running that away from your issues just means you will have to face them dead on eventually, for all characters in the story this message finds them! Why wouldn't you make this game a multiple ending game where the choices you make in conversation and the photos and evidence you acquire in the end will actually mean something!!!! I just personal...

Yes, it's a narrative-driven experience. Yes, it's a "walking simulator." Sometimes those games are good too. This is one.

Never been big on narrative/adventure, it's unfortunately so exhausting to focus. Still playing Disco Elysium after 5 years for the same reason. I loved this one however. The atmosphere, the sound. The reasons from other reviews. The controversy around that a*s streamer. Only came here to buy the OST actually. (Playtime on Steam Deck didn't count for some reason)

Great game, last act was kinda whatever. Runs very well on Steam Deck. Anyway, I personally think GabeN should be put in prison for holding Campo Santo's next game hostage. It's been 8 years Valve, give me In The Valley of Gods!

This game is an amazing in both a great storyline and characters, and beautiful graphics and soundtrack. I also like the added details of true events in the story line such as the man who was hit 7 times by lightning, or mentioning the big fire in Yellowstone National park. Its great when developers can add in real events into their fictional stories and make it fit in the story It's a game you can sit down one day and in a couple hours finish. And the story line drives you to the end of your seat for an interesting twist and play of the human mind.

If you like to hike for 20 minutes from one side of the map to the other without doing anything in between this game is for you. The only puzzle to figure out along the way is why this guy can climb up an 8 foot wall, but can't step over a 1 foot tall rock or bush. You get to make 100 "decisions" along the way, but they don't affect the outcome of the game at all. It's just two government employees being jerks to everyone around them and committing multiple federal crimes, which sounds fun, but it isn't. Slight spoiler: the game seems to turn into an exciting conspiracy mystery, but ends up being a red herring and absolutely nothing and a complete waste of time. Bugs: * THE ACHIEVEMENTS RARELY TRIGGER. I adopted that damn turtle a dozen times. Nothing. * Mouse cursor disappears * Rebinding keys doesn't always work * Game text does no reflect actual keybindings. It just shows the default ones no matter your settings. * Escape button closes something but not others. * Bugged obj...

Good game but overhyped. Pros: Beautiful world and engaging conversations with good voice acting.. Cons: Walking simulator and disappointment ending.
