I was completely under the impression that this game had multiplayer vs style co-op. This is not true. You can only see your group's leader boards and their ghosts? So, basically, I bought this for all my friends to play together in races. They don't let you do that... So now I've given this game a ton of money and kind of pissed that the one thing I wanted and was under the impression that I would get... isn't in the game at all. :(

Hot Lava is a vibrant and kinetic first-person platformer that taps into a universally nostalgic childhood game—pretending the floor is made of lava. Developed by Klei Entertainment, best known for titles like Don’t Starve and Mark of the Ninja, this game transforms that playground fantasy into a polished and often challenging digital playground. Rather than simply banking on the novelty of its premise, Hot Lava builds a robust movement system and an array of cleverly designed levels that offer both accessible fun and intense skill-based gameplay. The moment you load into the game, the tone is set with a blast of 90s-style Saturday morning cartoon aesthetics. You play as action figures come to life in stylized environments based on childhood memories: school hallways, basements, gyms, and backyards—all cleverly transformed into parkour obstacle courses where touching the floor equals fiery doom. The environments are drenched in personality, with objects like desks, couches, pipe...
Played through the intro, thought it was fun. I picked it up again later in the day and it's opening in windowed mode, capped at like 1/5 my screen size. Once it gets past the logos and starts loading onto the menu, my screen just bugs out and I can hear the game going in the background but can't access. Verifying the game integrity and reinstalling fresh did nothing. Really a bummer, because it seemed like it could've been fun with friends - guess I'll never know!
It's a fun game but somewhat limited. You go to some different levels and go get checkpoints jumping from surface to surface. The platforming is good and fluid, and being able to see your legs it quite helpful to fix the biggest problem of 1st person platformers. Sometimes the wall jumping can be finnicky and dying from unspecificied fall distance is pretty stupid when you land on safe surfaces. The trampoline bouncing is pretty poor as you have to press jump right at the perfect time with a way too small window, bc if you press it before you double jump and lose your momentum, but if you press it late it does nothing. Also the game does get a bit repetitive as the environments aren't the most interesting and the game never evolves and you do the same thing from 1st to last minute. But the game works and the swinging, surfing and hopping all work well and are enjoyable in the moment to moment gameplay. It is annoying its online and theres no easy way to swap offline from settings o...
Another Klei banger. This game is designed to be fun,
