With my second try I went around the world in 37 days. That killed the game for me. Please do not be surprised. Instead of facing the real trials and tribulations of Victorian Age we are in a steampunk world with fast airships, motorcars and possibly flying carpets. This not only removes the whole point of the original novel but all possible challenge from the game itself. The steampunk setting puzzles me. It kneecaps the story while bringing nothing to the table except silliness and bad writing. In such a world the bet, the engine of the story, wouldn't make any sense. The developers, however, seem wholly obvious to the elephant in the room and everything plays out with dead-pan seriousness as if zipping around the globe in a plane would be any kind of achievement. In short, the setting is a typical piece of modern nonsense, trying to give a fresh twist to a classic story that couldn't need it less. It vaguely reminds me of tim burton's alice in wonderland, which not only clubbers ...

User Reviews
It is based on a great story but the ingame story just does not reach the magnificence of the original one. Yes you can go on your own journey, travel around the entire world, fight your way through the jungle of India or ride through the sweltering deserts of Mongolia, however it feels like you travel alone. Mr Fogg is just an annoyance who is not in any way a helping figure. You talk to him very little, you have to make sure he keeps liking you and he never goes on a side mission with you. If the price was a little lower, I could probably give a positve review but 11$ is just way too much. 5/10
This game is the love child of video game and literature. In terms of gameplay, you play as a valet, Passepartort, for a rich English gentleman, Phileas Fogg. Your job is to help Fogg win his wager: to travel around the globe in 80 days. To do this, you need to plan the trip for Fogg and take care of him on the journey. How the journey will unfold is completely up to you. Which city to go to, what to explore, who to talk to, what to bring along… Since this game is set in a steampunk world, you may get on some mind-blowing vehicles such as a moving city and an automaton elephant. On the trip, you need to keep Fogg happy and healthy while making sure you have enough money to travel efficiently. Making unwise decisions in the game will delay your travel. As long as you can manage a balance between time, money, and health, you can take whatever routes you want to. The gameplay gives you immense freedom while also posing challenges to you. Most of the content you encounter on your jour...
A marvelous interactive novel made into a game! 80 Days reimagines Jules Verne's famous work in a new steampunk era, where Phileas Fogg once again attempts the impossible. It is up to Passepartout, the player, to plan out the jorney across the world, with various always chaining routes available. To balance the budget, the conditions, the obstacles, and above all the jorney time is a challenge, one that makes the game highly replayable. The narrative works in symbiosis with the gameplay, with both new routes leading to new stories and story choices leading to new routes. Truly a wonderful experience!
