Logical systems lead to logical endings. Logical endings lead to logical reviews. As I have now just finished the 160 puzzles after around 3 weeks of intense brainstorming, I feel Logic Bombs is an interesting example of how far a premise can be taken to its logical extreme, doubly more so since it's easy to get fooled by assumptions due to lazy first glances. While the game seems at first a cutesy take on Picross, clues only giving the number of walls and not how they're separated forces as early as possible a rewiring of habits and interacting in earnest with the game's rules. Progress a bit, and Logic Bombs reveal itself not just a game about placing walls, but a game about connecting spaces. Progress even more, and you begin to see how each element of the game and their associated rules interact with each other in progressively more complex ways. Even as early as second or third line of puzzles, you're often taking into consideration several layers of rules into your decision maki...

You know a game is made by a real one when it boots directly to the level select menu. No waiting for logos to flash by, no selecting your save file, just straight to what matters. There's also no music, minimal sound effects, and really nothing else aside from the puzzles. This is a lean, mean, puzzling experience. The only extravagance afforded is an alternate graphics setting to get rid of the game boy look, which I of course never touched. There's maybe 150 words in the entire thing but despite that I did enjoy the writing a lot. The terse, humorous edicts about menu functions and what logical rules to follow give the game a fun distinct personality. The puzzles are what you're here for and they're pretty great. At a glance a little bit picross, a little bit mineweeper, but after the early ones I found them most similar to variant sudokus; sudoku puzzles with various added mathematical and logical constraints. A lot of building out paths or logically consistent cordoned off sectio...

Accidentally challenged myself to finish the game without writing a single note after being too lazy and stubborn to find pen and paper (and not wanting to tab out). No numbers. No letters. No drawings. Nothing. It got hard towards the end, but the hundreds of hours I've spent on various pen-and-paper puzzle games had given me all the mental tools, tricks and patience I needed to push through. And when I got stuck, I just had to rotate through everything I'd learned up until that point (both from inside or outside of the game) until a crack in the puzzle-wall appeared. Simply taking a break also shouldn't be underrated. Love the game, love the challenge. The more challenging or creative a puzzle was, the better the feeling of figuring out the logic and solution felt. It all makes me want more, and it almost makes me tempted to try making my own Logic Bombs-style puzzles.

VERY good logic game, think of it like a collection of premade Picross / Minesweeper style puzzles, but where each puzzle isn't made to just be 'solvable', they are instead built around some interesting emergent idea that the simple rules of the game create. And there are a LOT of emergent ideas... there are chain reactions and crazy interactions happening everywhere: some of them are hilarious, some of them are shocking, and some of them are downright devious. The closest thing this game could be compared to right now is... Tametsi, I guess? But this game is a lot less stressful, and the levels feel more 'designed', in that you can almost always feel the idea they're constructed around, or what the designer is trying to tell you. This game has a much stronger 'voice', if that makes any sense. If you have even a passing interest in this sort of thing, pick this game up, it's jam packed with puzzles and it gets very good very quickly.

Pretty incredible pen and paper style puzzle game. Basically Picross if it was actually hard. Works great on PC, Steam Deck, and Game Boy.
