About This Game

A fast-paced, easy to play, tiny platform fighter for 1-4 players, built to honor the era where stick fights ruled the internet!

STYLE ON EVERYONE! We wanted A FEW QUICK MATCHES to feel like an old-school stick fight, which means flashy animations and impactful moments! To attain this feel, we made it so that most successful hits can be cancelled into air dashes, meaning your follow-up routes are nearly infinite. Deep-diving into this combo system is incredibly rewarding, and landing a well-executed chain of attacks feels uniquely satisfying. While this mechanic is not necessary to enjoy your battles, those who choose to embrace it will push the game to its limits!
FIGHT ANYONE! We designed our game with online play in mind. A FEW QUICK MATCHES harnesses the amazing magic of ROLLBACK NETCODE to ensure smooth, lag-free battles across the internet. Host lobbies to challenge your friends, or hop into quickplay to match up with any player in your region.

UPDATE: Played the game a lot more after reviewing, thought I was mad cuz bad. All my criticisms are the same and also the netcode SUCKS Steam needs a mixed review option tbh, I don’t want to give this game a full thumbs down but I don’t want to give it a thumbs up either AFQM is a nice little platform fighter (without ledges, shields, or grabs, so like Rivals 1) with fun-feeling movement and a couple gimmicks to its name, mainly getting an airdash after getting a hit. This is, in theory, an incredible system, and it feels like crack to get a combo off that uses one cancel, let alone multiple. Real platfighter heads remember this was the concept of Rushdown Revolution, a truly truly tragic story of a game. However, that’s also where the issues arise. The game’s movement and overall feel has this weird… sloshy/slippery/unintuitive feeling, and while it’s not a huge issue on its own (plenty of other platfighters have less than stellar gamefeel), the problem arises when y...
Me- sees cool game on steam It's an indie game! It came out today!! IT'S 5 DOLLARS!!! IT'S DOING A CROSS OVER WITH YOMI HUSTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!
If they get Steam Workshop integration functioning at some point in the future, it's going to be difficult to return to Rivals of Aether. Love that game to death, but this game just has that insanely addicting feel. Can't wait to see what the devs cook up later on.
Very fun and airdashing is satisfying. This game is going to be insane once we get mods.
>start by thinking the game is clunky and trash >play it >get good >hype moments and aura 10/10 will be playing a few more quick matches of a few quick matches
This is one of the best fighting games I’ve ever played, it easily makes it into my top 5 favorite fighting games. Here’s the list: 1st — Sex with Hitler 2nd — Furry Feet 3rd — Hentai vs Furries 4th — My Roommate Femboy 5th — A Few Quick Matches Excellent fighting games.
I'm going to start with the cons: - No Tutorial - Practice tool could use a bit more functionality Now here are the pros: - Movement feels great - Characters feel very distinct - Balancing is good, all characters feel strong - Netplay feels great up to 100-120 ping - Fairly low skill floor, incredibly high skill ceiling - Community is really nice so far - IT'S ONLY $6 ($5 if on sale) - Already tournament support Pros or Cons: - Small character pool (3, about to be 4) This game is in my opinion the best feeling platform fighter. Ever. The movement feels similar to Melee but honestly it feels better to me. I like how all three characters play so far, and there isn't ever anything that makes me think "that was bs". Every time I get rocked all I can think is "Wow, that was impressive." It's a skill expressive platform fighter that feels good. What more could you want?
This game needs a LOT of work. Hoping that future patches will make characters better to move, feels like I have glue on my feet all the time. Lobbies are constantly bugged and the controls arent very helpful. A tutorial should be added to help newer playes understand that canceling moves with airdashes is practically needed. I hope workshop and some more characters breathe life into this game because three characters is not enough. Let people choose alt colors manually for their characters and make it an option to see PROFILE names above the characters. I love the art style and music, but patches and updates will be needed to make this game worth it. Excited to see the future of the game.
games fun but online is buggy, I've been placed in quickplay lobbies with no people and I've had multiple online matches where my controller stopped registering inputs despite the menus and prior local games doing so.
