About This Game

What if your worst nightmares didn’t end when you opened your eyes?

After the sudden loss of his wife, Steve is consumed by insomnia. Days blur into nights as reality begins to unravel around him. Haunted by twisted visions and shadowy figures, he finds himself trapped in a waking nightmare where nothing is as it seems.

Waking Dreams is a psychological survival horror game that blends atmospheric exploration, intense suspense, resource management and combat. Navigate threatening environments, solve puzzles, and piece together the truth behind Steve’s fractured mind. As he confronts the darkest corners of his past, the line between dream and reality begins to slip.

I enjoyed this game and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys the old school, fixed camera, tank control survival horror games. The atmosphere was great and the eerie soundtrack only added to it. I liked the level design and puzzles, but there were a couple of things that I found a bit annoying. 1. On occasion, the camera angle didn't change instantly when my character went off screen. This caused my death a handful of times as i had run straight into enemies and didn't know. 2. As with all survival horror games, I run past the enemies that I don't need to waste ammo on, but it appears that you can still be hurt during the door opening "fade to black" to enter the next room, even though your character is frozen on the spot so you cant do anything about it. I just had to watch as my character died either before or after entering the next room, which was a pain. Aside from those two points, everything else was fine. My PC ran it smoothly, though it is a bit GPU hungry imo. Good vari...

WOW! THIS GAME ROCKS!!! I'm absolutely shocked how good this is. The story (a little vague in the beginning) it's really good and just gets better over time. The graphics are great they feel like a classic PlayStation 2 / original Xbox horror game. The only problem I have with the game is that sometimes it takes a just a bit too long for the camera to readjust when you enter a new scene. And I got glitched behind the door that open and pin me against the bush and I had to reset the stage to go to my last save point. And I really wish it had a modern control option. I understand the point is to have the old tank controls but it would have been nice to have modern option. Even with that this game is excellent! I can't recommend it enough!

This is going to be a pretty soft recommendation, perhaps even barely a recommendation at all. There are a LOT of other games in this vein that I would rather play. I'll start with what I liked about it, because there are some good aspects that deserve recognition. The setting is pretty neat - although hospitals are a common level within bigger survival horror games, they are rarely used as the main setting, and I think it was handled quite well here. I like the medical theme that ties it all together with the enemies and the story. I like that there is a great deal of variety in the enemies (although I still found they felt really samey). I think some of the music was interesting, although not enough to have any real impact. The main thing that I actually like about this game is the level design. I think the developer did a good job making the hospital feel logical and interconnected, with lots of mysteries to return to as you gain key items along the way. Good work. Now if only I c...
