at first glanced the surge is great and the targeting system is the greatest thing. I like the risk you take when the more you kill without going back to the 'hub' the more scrap 'xp' you get to gear up or to level up, if you die you have 2min to pick up the orb, so hurry up or kill enemies to increase timer. Five bosses isn't much compared to other games, but the buildup to them is great and intense, and five was enough. The big issue for me was that after the third boss, the hallways got smaller and there were lots of shortcuts, but it also felt like all I did was run and hide in the hallways because that's mostly what was left of the game. Also, the enemies got very strong at some point. They went from easy to medium, and then it just got complicated after the third boss. It went from medium to extra hard. I even backtracked because I thought it was too hard. To my surprise, the hard guys were everywhere in the game. 1 enemy couldnt kill for the love of god, had to google it, j...

About This Game

A catastrophic event has knocked you out during the first day on the job… you wake up equipped with a heavy-grade exoskeleton, in a destroyed section of the complex. Robots gone haywire, insane augmented co-workers and rogue AI - everything wants you dead.
Defy deadly enemies and huge bosses in tight, visceral melee combat. Target and slice specific limbs off your foes, with a next-gen loot system where you loot what you dismember. Equip, upgrade and craft new weapons and armors sliced from enemies, and make yourself stronger through a fresh take on leveling-up.

Can't recommend purely because you can't switch your lock-on to the next enemy to manage multiple enemies. If it's this annoying at the start of the game, it will only get so much worse.
I really enjoyed the game's atmosphere. It has a pretty fluid combat, nice story and I feel it is a bit underrated/unknown.
9/10 My first ever soulslike game, I liked it a lot. I like the weapon proficiency system, tho I don't like how much of a disadvantage you have if you try to run a different weapon on ng+. I was honestly suprised with how hard the bosses seemed to be, and even more so once I beat them all in a new save much more easily (I haven't got around to completing a ng+ save). The variety of playstyles afforded via the implants is amazing, tho most of the really good implants imo are in the endgame
I tend to write really long rambling reviews, so I am giving the short version up front. The Surge is a sci-fi game clearly inspired by the Dark Souls series, but it does enough twists to the formula that I think it deserves to be seen as its own thing, not just a copy. Some of those twists work well and others fall flat. It took me ~35 hours to beat the main story and one of the two DLCs. There is some jank and the game crashed a couple times. Overall I had fun playing The Surge, but I was ready to stop playing after that point and didn’t feel the need to do the second DLC. If you like Souls games and want to try something weird and experimental then this is highly recommended. That’s the short version, here’s the long version: Controls: Your character is a guy who volunteered to get bolted into an exo-skeleton because an accident left him partially paralyzed. The procedure did not go well and now everything is going crazy. The game does a very good job of making you feel like...
Playing on win 11, game is unstable and crashes. The game being old it is understandable that they do not support but It seems the devs did not end support with the game bug free
As a fromsoft souls veteran, I cannot detest this game any more than I already do. This is the most unbalanced souls like I have completed to date. I-frames feel non existent with blocking being more dangerous than it's worth. Your best bet is to dodge for repositioning, rather than timing to be aggressive. For nearly the entirety of the game all mobs can effectively 2 shot the player at any given time. There is next to no "poise" for the player while mobs can effectively face tank all your attacks, regardless of weapon choice. At times, it seems you can only stagger a mob ONE time in a single combo, which also makes no sense. This isn't to mention that all mob encounters are in narrow hallways or surrounded by other mobs. The solution is to hopelessly attempt to draw one mob at a time to inevitably aggro all mobs that will continuously chase you until you are swarmed to death. All base game bosses are gimmick fights where the gimmicks are not intuitive or make any sense. Thus, the bos...
Fun game. I found it actually kind of hard, like really actually difficult unlike other souls game (recommended for big sale)

who in the fuck dev in their right mind decides it smart to put the lost SOULS inside the BOSS ARENA WHEN YOU DONT KNOW THE NEXT ROOM YOU ENTER IS GOING TO HAVE A FUCKING BOSS . IM PISSED OFF
