About This Game

Ever wanted to be a hacker? Hack your way into the heart of a mysterious organization to uncover their secrets. Hack RUN® is a game which uses 'old school' command prompts (like DOS or UNIX) that simulate a real operating system. Learn the commands of each system to help you navigate through your adventure.

As you hack into their systems, you will learn about the organization and the people who work there. Read files and emails to find clues and riddles which will give you access to more accounts. Data found on their systems will help you learn about the motives of the organization, and how dark their plans can get. You may also discover dirty little secrets about the employees as well.

Hacking into new accounts or discovering key information will increase your skill level. As you achieve your goals, you will move closer and closer to the final achievement; over 50 levels deep!

It's time for a Hack RUN!

Very good Game. Entertained me well. Story at the End is a little bit WTF, but the gameflow is nice. You dont need any programming skills just a little bit free brainspace and maby google for binary decoding.

This is a unique game. It's a hacking style / text adventre game that requires you to think and unless you plan on playing it all in one sitting, take old fasioned notes. The story unfolds via email converstations that lead you to more emails that lead you to more emails. The first half of the game is reading emails to get the next users email account password. It even requires you to visit external sites which adds a bit of immersion, but also runs you into the ground. Once of the sites in game is down at the moment and now I am have to cheat to make progress. Not worth the five dollars, as guessing passwords and user names gets boring. If you can look past this and the game breaking website access, you might have some fun.

It's a puzzle game on the terminal. I really like the concept, since you are allowed to purely focus on the tasks given. There are no distractions. On the overall, the puzzles are ok, but some are not really logical, like the guessing of some usernames. Don't get me wrong, the game is amazing, but I wished for some logical decisions, and not so much trial and error.

so after 4 hours im threw, actually more like 2 hours i just didnt close the game while getting dinner but nvm the game is alot of fun, while you do mostly the same all the time you figure out a username and a password and then get to read that accounts mails etc. and repeat while that sounds kinda boring, it isnt. the mails are very funny and while you dont get to see any character you always get some kind of info about the person you just hacked/you are a bout to hack i had some laughs while reading some mails i found in the beginning i liked the story very much because its kinda the way you think, how a hacker gets his job you receive an email in which you are hired to hack in to the systems of a large company to look if u can find some dirty information there comes a plot twist at around lvl 30 that is IMO kinda bad, since the story gets a little crazy and completely unrealistic my 2nd bad point is, that i had the bug, that i hacked into the next acccount, but there was nothin...

I bought this game on the recommendation of someone in a gaming group I’m in, after they learned that I enjoy hacking sims. Hack RUN is also available on mobile if you’re interested. This is more of a glorified puzzle game than a legit simulation, so no one is going to walk away with real hacker skills. Honestly, this game felt like a lower budget version of the very excellent ARG, The Black Watchmen, also on Steam. The storylines are vaguely similar in that you’re hacking into a mysterious pharmaceutical company to discover they are doing heinous things, and both games utilize dummy websites you can actually go to for clues to solve their puzzles. However, The Black Watchmen is superior in pretty much in every way, from user interface to story design to puzzle quality to immersion. Hack RUN is strictly a console-like window, much like Hacknet but smaller and less attractive. The commands are very straightforward and simplistic, and quite frankly the puzzles are too if you’ve...

A fun little game, and I recommend it. There is a strange mix of clues which are so obvious it hurts, and moments where you are having to take potshots, but overall its a fun puzzle game. Don't expect a deep hacking simulator - though it manages to capture some essence of the experience while making the secrets discovered interesting enough to motivate me to play through to the end. Took me a fair few hours, which I regard as money well spent.

vic.mail>s review Since I've played Hacker Evolution from exosyphen, I'm interested in hacking games. Well, I don't play them often but when this one was announced, I've been intrigued. I've finally decided to play it a few days ago and it was.... wow. Simply flashy green, with commands to write and nothing else around. It's called going straight to the point. And the big negative point? NO MUSIC! Hacker Evolution had music. Good music. Very very good music. And here? I'm playing in a deadly silence.... You're staying in the game for 2 main reasons: - You want to know the story - These achievements unlocking each time you're hacking, or receiving, or... in other words, it can be a quick release of achievements. Because, let's be honest: typing always the same thing because the piece of information you need is always in an email isn't really captivating. Well, thanks god, there is at least 5% of the game that aren't about typing m and e. And yet, if typing the same thing is boring,...

A really quick title to 100%. This one is kind of a neutral game for me ,since it's not that much fun ,but it's not boring at all. Worth it ,especially if you get in on sale or in a bundle. The achievments are not hard ,since you pretty much just have to complete it to get them all. Overall:6/10.

Finished in 1 hour, so not that much gameplay, and pretty repetitive after a while, but still fun. The story gets a bit confusing near the end, so I used a walkthrough, and the backstory is pretty lacking. However, the game was still fun, mostly just because it's all about hacking. If it had more commands to hack with, and less instances of the same commands consecutively, it would be a much better game. So, story's confusing, backstory's lacking, gameplay lacking, $5 USD... It's cool, but not worth the price. Should be $1. Recommended? No.
