Chess is one of the most well-designed games ever made. I decided to reverse that.
In this party game take on classic chess, new rules and changes to the board come about at every turn! Each time a player makes a move, a text box warns you of the next event that will take place, and then, it happens. Some events make pieces of the board fall away into the void! Some events change the types of moves that a given piece can make! Some even allow you to create new pieces and add new foreign objects to the board that obstruct your enemy's view, block their movements, or destroy their pieces on a massive scale!
Some events include:
Spleef - The last square occupied on the board crumbles away, becoming inaccessible for the rest of the game.
Tall Rook - One of your rooks gets taller. That's it. It looks funny.
Insanity - A random piece goes insane, and it has a chance to kill one of its neighbors.
Converted - A bishop has converted religions, so it now moves like a knight.
Are you feeling alright? - The visuals on screen become distorted. Be careful not to move to the wrong spot!
And more!
Your new favorite knockoff of chess will have you falling out of your seat as the game itself subverts all your plans to capture your opponent's king. Last moron standing wins!
