This is what fumbling a guaranteed thing looks like They took a popular IP and an interesting tactical platform and made it as boring as humanly imaginable. Imagine all the worst elements of grinding in an MMO added for your single player enjoyment. That's this game. Fights are repetitive and uninteresting, the story is forgettable, and the voice acting is atrocious outside of a few standouts like Matt Mercer. This game is simply not fun. Wouldn't even recommend at a steep discount, you won't finish it because you'll fall asleep playing it before then.

This game is an incredible swan song for the tactics era of Firaxis, though it got critically hamstrung by 2K in a couple of ways. I'm sure that's never happened before or since. If you have any fondness for Marvel Comics I'd say give this a look, especially when it's on sale, as the Legendary Edition is the version you want to get- the "season pass" broken up into multiple DLC packs is actually one big expansion that you can pretty clearly tell was separated by publisher mandate or something, and it integrates seamlessly into the main game. Come on, don't lie and say you don't want Storm and Venom in your squad. The game's rhythm of pseudo-card based combat, trying to get as many actions out of a turn as possible, and Persona or Fire Emblem style hangouts after the battles is really fun and easy to get caught up in, even if you're just taking on side missions and not following the (well written for a comic book video game) story. The character writing, in particular, is very fun, with...

I love this game but it suffered a bit from being an everything sandwich. Now, I love an everything sandwich when I'm at Subway or Five Guys but it can be a bit much in the realm of video games. Especially when you introduce a unique twist on a genre. Turn-based tactics from the masters of it through the X-COM reboot (I have dabbled in them but have not completed them) decided to acquire the Marvel IP but introduce cards? What? I was skeptical but open-minded going into it and the truth is, it requires a different mode of thinking in terms of strategy. You get 3 card plays between your 3 hero's in a given turn. Play cards to gain Heroism you can use to either play Hero abilities or use environmental objects. In the midst of all this, on a typical turn you only get 1 move. But your characters do move through much of it, Spider-man will often swing up close to the enemy to attack while someone like Storm will be able to attack without moving much. You get this feedback before you con...

I'm a bit disappointed. This was supposed to be a turn-based tactical game, but instead we got a walking simulator with boring stories... and a dress-up feature. Is this game meant for 10-year-olds?

Not Recommended It has an incredibly fun and unique tactical combat system, an engaging story, and some great character interactions. On paper, it's a fantastic game with strong replayability and a good deal of innovation. The graphics are solid and the soundtrack is fitting. However, none of that matters when the game is a technical mess. The performance and optimization are shockingly bad, with constant frame drops, stutters, and crashes. My experience was plagued by crashes, making it impossible to enjoy the otherwise great content. Despite the good things about this game, the constant instability makes it unplayable for me. Until these core technical issues are fixed, something that developers have still not addressed till now, I cannot recommend this game to anyone.

clunky combat and the rest feels like a mobile game with cut scenes. Not worth it even if it's on sale.
