Crystal Gaiden Origins

Only a few levels in and i can say this game brings a lot of nostalgia with its 8-bit style. The music is very reminiscent of the 90s games i grew up playing. Looking forward to finishing the game and finding all the secrets.

No bro, this ain't just another 2D platformer with NES vibes, it's a freakin' addictive 8-bit speedrun gem on PC. For 10 bucks, it even throws in a storyline! [h3] Normal mode? [/h3] Super pleasant to play. [h2] Hard? [/h2] Bit harsh, I’m still grinding through level 6, and man... it’s brutal. [h1] Expert? [/h1] Don’t even ask... Lots of feats to collect, icons are cute as hell. Love the game.

Smooth controls and great soundtrack. Scratches that retro pixel art itch perfectly. Runs beautifully on handheld. Definitely worth it on sale.

Fun game... not perfect but it has its charm. Reminded me of Prison City but less polished. You can change the difficulty between 3 different options plus you can choose specific things you would like to be harder as well.

Crystal Gaiden Origins is a well made, retro side scrolling action game for the most part. However I can't recommend it for two fatal and infuriating flaws. your attack itself and collision. The attack of the character is too slow and inconsistent in landing attacks! some enemies you actual have to walk towards a pixel while pressing attack in order to deal damage, not all of them thank god, but it's still stupid to think that's acceptable. Play games like the game tries to emulate. you'll notice the collision is perfect and the attack speeds meet with the design of the game, and frankly quite satisfying..You don't get that here. You'll get hit no matter what and attack while nothing happens to the enemy and it's rage inducing. I like the look, feel, music and control of the game. Those are done proper, however the collision sucks and as well as your attack speed. you'll get more attacks with your knife playing a game of "Rush 'n' Attack"! Fun game until you fight the punishingly difficult final boss. Still the game was a pleasant experience. But it is one of those games where you will breeze though most of the stages only to find the final level and boss a frustrating challenge.
