About This Game

Dwarven Brawl Bros is a local 2 to 6 player 2D fighting (brawling) party game with a retroish feel.
Play as a dwarf and kill your bros! DBB offers fast-paced brawling in all-vs-all, all-vs-one, and team settings with 31 weapons, 38 stages, and 26 game modes!

Weapons!

The gameplay is weapon based. Each weapon has its own pros and cons as well as three different, separate basic attacks - and a special attack to finish off your target (or weaken someone else) once you have successfully hit enough with basic attacks. Smack them from behind and push them into lava or spikes for extra damage: let the beards hit the lava in a slow-mo gorey flight!

Just brawl - it's a party!

Dwarven Brawl Bros is a brawler that doesn't limit your gameplay to class spesific skills or weapons. All the characters can use all the weapons and you can change your style and arsenal mid-fight: each dwarf can carry up to three weapons, replacable on-the-fly. The brawling is made non-restricting and insanely fun!

Spice it up!

If you enjoy specific gameplay, like playing as a zombie or a fake-elf versus dwarves, there are game modes for that too. Matches can also be customized with different gameplay settings, such as setting hit points and special attack unlock damage.

On top of that, stages are destructible, making individual bricks break and platform structures collapse by the weapon hits, projectiles, and explosions.

Couch-friendly party game

Just sit back, grab gamepads and beverages: this is a perfect party game to play with your friends (or foes). Team up and go co-op, or fight alone against others!

Dwarven Brawl Brosis fully controller supported, meaning that it can be played through the menus and the gameplay with a controller. No mouse or keyboard required!

Latest updates:

What DBB has:

 • 31 weapons: melee, ranged and explosives, each with three+one different attacks, with unique damages, knockbacks, and others attributes
 • 38 stages with 3 size variants each, with different destructible structures and damaging elements such as spikes and lavafalls, and physical clutter objects
 • Local 2-6 player brawling, with full controller support, but is also playable with keyboard
 • Playable in all-vs-all, one-vs-many, 2-vs-2, and 3-vs-3 settings
 • 26 game modes for different parties: All-vs-all, respawn deathmatch, team-vs-team (with or without respawn), Overthrow ("kill the king"), Dorf Ball ("dwarven football"), Zombie survivor, firearms/melee/explosives only, Happy Hour ("just specials"), Identity Crisis ("kill the elf"), and more
 • Customizable matches beyond modes: set the amount of hit points and spawned weapons, sessions lengths, and so on
 • Pre-made collections with rotating game modes for different play sessions
 • Retro, cute & brutal pixelated art-style
 • Semi-cartoonish gore, that can be turned off if the blood and the flying pieces of meats are too much
 • Chiptune-ish sfx and music that you miss once you turn it off
 • Announcer in both floating text and Pixel Display ("scoreboard") announcing kills and other events - it's a dwarven party!
 • English and Finnish translations

Can my computer run it?

Dwarven Brawl Bros requires just a modernish CPU (~any CPU made within the last five years) to run smoothly and any graphic card capable of running shader model 3.0 (~any card made after 2010) to display all the visuals.

There are options to turn down effects, like the physical clutter, so pretty much every modernish configuration can run DBB smoothly.

Still unsure?

If you got any questions, the FAQ blog post might answer them. If you can't find an answer there, ask away!

Really fun 2-6 players brawler in the mould of Super smash bros. lots of stages and modes in the game and i love the blood effect (set to heavy). the battle starts with every player equipped with his/her bare hands and many weapons are thrown around the stage (nice variety of weapons and lots of them are very fun to use) you can pick up 1-3 weapons and switch between them as you like. after a few hits your special will be charged and each weapon has its own special attack. Highly recommended if you have enough buddies to play with <3

This game is pretty fun, but it has some glaring problems as a party-game. The controls are way to complicated for people who are not familiar with video games- this is a fundamental problem with party-style games because there will always be someone who isn't a huge gamer. If they can't figure out the controls, then it's going to really hurt the experience for everyone. The control tooltips need to detect what type of input is being used (instead of saying "down + swap" or "hold the back to menu button to quit"). I still don't know how to quit this game without ctrl+alt+delete. The menu needs some UX touches. I love that there are lots of options, but the current multi-page display and navigation is confusing. I was looking for options for audio, but there are none. The music in the menus is extremely loud compared to other games/media. As far as gameplay and physics and stuff they seem to have it pretty solid. I think with better controls and UX on the menus I would recommend thi...

Dwarven Brawl Bros offers interesting maps, diverse weapons and a range of game modes. The game is deceptively simple initially, however there are loads of game modes and the weapons, combat and maps allow for fun and creative strategy. A vast array of very different weapons are offered, and many maps offer dynamic events. Weapons offer different abilities and can interact with the map. You can use knockback to push people into spikes, destroy platforms so people fall into lava, or destroy platforms to prevent the enemy from reaching you and snipe them to death. For the price tag it is certainly worth it. Subscribe to my curator page for more local multiplayer recommendations: http://store.steampowered.com/curator/7189360/

This review is based on version 0.9.8.2. Dwarven Brawl Bros is a very fun local multiplayer game. The core gameplay is very fun and has a lot of potential. However, it is not without flaws and definately is not ready for prime time yet. Issues in no particular order: * Many of the melee weapons seems to have an excessively long cool down. I'm assuming this is to discourage spamming but it's unnatural to see the dwarf hold the end of its swinging animation for a few seconds after attacking, and makes it hard to do anything at all during that time. * The menu, while cool in theory, simply isn't good. It's hard to navigate through all of the game types and is not intuitive. It should not need a block of text at the bottom that explains how to get around. I suggest putting the game types in a list and having things like the settings menu accessable via a selectable button. * Speaking of settings, relying on the Unity launcher is a big no-no. It looks unprofessional and can't be used w...
Warning: Dead PVP Game This game has no single player content, and no playable PvP servers. There is no functioning PvP population, it's a dead game, and cannot be played.
Dwarven Brawl Bros is an unabashed, lazy ripoff of Super Smash Bros (Copyright Nintendo, 1996). Many lazy "amateur" developers don't pay attention to their obligations under copyright law, and often steal the ideas of actual, real game developers without credit, such as the "developer" here has done. At this stage no legal action has been taken by Nintendo against the "developer" here, but it's never off the table, as previous copyright law cases have shown. Just like Super Smash Bros, this is a multiplayer platformer brawler, but replace the decent graphics and colourful Nintendo characters with a bunch of crap pixel "dwarves", and you can see why even conceptually, this was doomed to fail. Putting aside the unethical intellectual bankruptcy of stealing someone else's game concept for pro...

Ask your friends if they like it. If they don't, find new friends. EDIT: After 300+ hours of gameplay with my friends, I hereby succumb to their nagging about my outdated review. I had said a few negative things about the game. Sorry, Dwarven Brawl Bros! I now know that you are the one for me. The world should get to know this game some more. Nation-wide tournaments should take place every now and then. World-wide ones at least yearly.
Play this game.
Please do.

Har! Har! If you have friends to play locally, this is a MUST buy. It's simple, everyone can learn it awesomely fast, and it is god damn fun. Despite what it looks like, you will have the time of your life with some friends over shouting at the screens with this game :) BUY IT

We had a grill sesh while playing this game. Beer, gin, whiskey, chicken, and steak, but all that shit wouldn't fix how much I didn't enjoy this game. Basically if you get a gun or a hammer in this game, you win. The matches were so chaotic which isn't necessarily bad, but it felt incredibly unpredictable. Pros: - Lots of weapons - Random weapon drops at the start of matches - Very short matches which makes replayability high (if you like this shit) Cons: - Fuck guns - Fuck spears - Fuck hammers - Fuck lava - Fuck this game 4/10
